What baby carriers do you have?

So, what baby carriers do you have, or what do you plan/hope to get? Are you planning to babywear?

I have a Bjorn carrier that I thought would be nice and sturdy b/c I will be bending down so much taking care of my 2 year old. IT seems well made, and much easier to use than the snugli I had w/ DD.

I also have an unpadded mesh ring sling that I used the most when DD was little. I had her in April, and it was great in the summer b/c it was so cool. I walked w/ her in it everyday, and never had any back problems at all. It also made a nice shade to nurse with, but it was still cool, and DD could see thru it. This was also awesome b/c it was so compact, and never looked wrinkled after being wadded up in the bottom of the diaper bag.

I had an OTSBH, but it was just too bulky for me, and I couldn't ever get it to adjust right. It might have been a sizing issue, but I sold it b/c I like the mesh one better.

When DD was older, I got a hip hammock, and it was really nice! Very well made, and no extra fabric anywhere. Even MIL liked this one, and could figure it out. DH also used it a time or two, it was very adjustable. Slings look complicated, but this just has 2 buckles, and it very easy to adjust.

I also got a back pack carrier, Madden Voyager. I do like it, but didn't get to use it much b/c I got PG, and the waist thingy got uncomfortable. I didn't get his until DD started getting too wiggly, about a year old, and didn't like being in the sling.

Right now I am planning to get a wise woman sling, and I will still use the mesh one, too for the NB stage. I'm thinking the Bjorn will be nice when she can hold her head up a bit, but not right at the beginning.

I have a Baby's Bum Ring Sling and am hoping to get a KKAFP for this baby. I LOVE my sling. Ijust want to try something different. I had a snuggli for DS when he was tiny, but I heard that they are bad bad bad for baby's back and hips, so I quickly got rid of it.

I am making DH his own "manlier" sling as a shower gift. It will be in his diaper bag, which he asked for along with diapers, wipes and a wet bag.

I have a Bjorn that worked really well for my son. I had a Maya wrap that he screamed in from day one So I ended up selling that one. I would like to get something else beside the Bjorn but haven't tried any other slings besides the above 2 I mentioned.

I am considering getting a Baby Bjorn for dh to use later.

I have...

-Baby Bjorn which DS #1 lived in for 3 months (he had reflux)
-Kangaroo Korner Fleece Pouch (which we used from 3 mos. on- super!)
-Moby Wrap (can't wait to use this with a newborn!! didn't get ours until DS was a toddler)
-Kozy Carrier (also bought when DS was a toddler and he didn't want to be carried much anymore so we never used it- hoping it comes in handy when the baby gets bigger and I can wear him on my back while I make dinner)

*I can't wait to use the Moby Wrap with a newborn. It just is soooo comfortable that I imagine it's just perfect with keeping a newborn all close and cuddly. *

I have a sling that I bought at Target when Ds was a newborn. It's one that Dr. Sears endorsed. I could only use it for the first 4 months. It hurt my back after that. Then I bought a baby trekker. I love it. It can be used as a back or front pack. I will start off using the sling then switch to the trekker.

I make unpadded slings. Mine has a pleated shoulder which I prefer over the Maya shoulder cap. I really like unpadded slings because I feel you can get the baby more secure to you (as opposed to the padded slings) and also there are so many position options and breastfeeding is great in the sling. I don't feel so exposed (due to the tail being used as a cover up) I've been carrying Chloe in the sling since she was a month old (only because it took me a month to find out about slings--- this one will start out in the sling from the beginning) BTW, Chloe will be 2 this month. I don't carry her as much in the sling because of her growing independence and my growing belly. If she is asleep when we get to the store, I know I can keep her that way if I hold her in the sling. Also, I love carrying her on my back.

Anyway, I have experimented with OTSBH, Asian baby carrier, and a front pack and always grab my sling.

Take care!

Don't know what permission I have from
1) the boards
2) Mama2Chloe (Tricia)
to advertise the link that Tricia sent me with her slings, but if I'm allowed by the board advertising rules, and if Tricia would like me to, I can post that. Otherwise, I guess PM Tricia.

Tricia, It's so hard to concentrate on your slings when that beautiful Chloe is just smiling away at the camera

Your slings look like the Maya design, but I love the large shoulder spread. They look very comfy

Thanks! Yes, I like the shoulder pleats much better than the shoulder cap of Maya.

I have a yucky nojo sling that i've had for over 8 years now and HATE! Its huge , but I never managed to get rid of it. i also have a sling a friend made out of white muslin for the renfaire. It had metal rings and is a PITA to adjust and needs to be dyed asap. I have a black Maya wrap on my registry, but noone is biting.

I carried Raven in the Nojo from day one to over age 3. I think i deserve a new sling

I've got maybe 5 padded ring slings from my pattern (I use those the most), a couple knit pouches from my pattern (those are good to stash in the diaper bag, because they're TINY), a Kelty Kangaroo that I've never tried (it was a $5 Salvation Army score - but I found it after Davey had gotten too big for it!), an unpadded ring sling from www.momufactured.com, a Tough Traveller Stallion backpack (fits my DH best, and is used a LOT when we go camping or on trips), and J's grandma bought me a Kelty backpack at a church auction for like $5 - that's going to fit me a lot better than the TT.
Oh, and I think I still have the old Gerry front-pack that I used 20 years ago to carry my youngest sister when I went shopping with my mom, because she couldn't pack 2 babies at once without hurting herself I used it with my oldest, too....but only for 2 weeks, because *I* was hurting *myself* carrying him in that thing once he got to 15 lbs!
