Heartburn already?

I'm only 5-6 weeks pg. Why do I have heartburn already?

Does anyone else have this? I thought it was a last trimester thing.

yep, it's pretty normal for me the whole way through. Progesterone tends to relax the gastric sphincter.

I had it a little bit. All my symptoms are really mild, but I did notice that I was a little hear-burny.

I had heartburn for the first 4 days I knew I was pg. I didn't have any today. With ds, I had heartburn for a little bit before I knew I was pg. I don't know how long it lasted.

Still have it. What should I do?

When I had it with DS1, I took tums, as a matter of course, about 2-3 times a day when it was really bad. The TUMS aren't so bad, because they have calcium in them too, so especially if you are nursing and pregnant, the extra calcium can't hurt.

Also, the side part, as I found out with ds1, is that if you take tums before you throw up with morning sickness, the puke tastes more like milk, and doesn't burn. I found that out by accident, but it served me well. Gross, I know, but if it helps even one morning sickness suferer...then it was all worthwhile

A friend swears by chocolate soy milk. I haven't tried it yet.

just popping in from the August board..

I had this too! it has subsided now though! (I'm 11 weeks tomorrow)

btw tums can actually be harmful I hear if you are taking too many. I was taking a ton last pg (like a bottle in 2 weeks) and had to switch to pepcid.

Tums Smooth Dissolve, fruit flavored were the only thing that got me through my last pregnancy. Mostly at night was when I took them.

Uggh. Yes. Partially due to indulging my cravings, i think. I would mostly get it in the eves so I have taken to eating very small healthy meals or a few snacks in the eves and that has helped! It was keeping me up nights for awhile!

almonds are WONDERFUL for heartburn, and I have GERD so it's not mild! Just get some raw slivered almonds and keep them with you to use when you get a heartburn attack.
