When I had it with DS1, I took tums, as a matter of course, about 2-3 times a day when it was really bad. The TUMS aren't so bad, because they have calcium in them too, so especially if you are nursing and pregnant, the extra calcium can't hurt.
Also, the side part, as I found out with ds1, is that if you take tums before you throw up with morning sickness, the puke tastes more like milk, and doesn't burn. I found that out by accident, but it served me well. Gross, I know, but if it helps even one morning sickness suferer...then it was all worthwhile
