What kind of shoes does your preschooler wear?

My kid has some "sensory issues" and is very particular about what shoes feel comfortable on her feet.

A few sizes ago, Dar (bless her) sold me some red (favorite color) elefanten mary janes on the TP. Then some wonderful mom sold me two more pairs, which Pumpkin is outgrowing. I've ISO our next size on the TP....nothing. Okay, gonna get some off ebay, I can live with that.

Problem: Elefanten is going out of business. So the next time we size up I'm in trouble.

I get no struggle with these shoes regardless of weather, mood, etc. They bring such joy and peace to our household.

So help me with my problem:

What shoes do your kids wear? What do they like best about them?

I don't know how much this helps you, but the people who either ran or promoted Elefanten are opening a new shoe company this spring. I saw it mentioned somewhere. The link is:

my 4yr dd has "issues" and she wears Reef flips-flops Apr-Nov and currently in a pair of MaryJanes from OldNavy for winter, though it's been so warm lately she has been back into the flip-flops. not to jinks you, but my dd went 2 years of being able to wear the same style sandal (in several sizes) and this summer she couldn't "deal" with it. Basically I just have her try shoes till one "works". Hand-me-down from friends seem to work best for us. Hope things work out.

Lands End (which you can get at Sears) has some very basic Mary Jane's starting in size 9 toddlers (I think, DD wears a 13).

Ugg boots! :LOL

Seriously, they are great! I bought some this fall and 'tho they were pricey the are well worth it. He can put them on himself, they are blissfully comfortable (I got a pair, too), they are warm and dry (even if it is wet out, even if the boots get wet), they go with virtually everything, and you never need SOCKS!!

I'm sold--he's been wearing them for months. They even worked OK before it got cold--just wore them with shorts. They would be too hot for really warm weather, but much more versatile than I expected.

Strite Rite fit all the way for my boys thus far. One boy is wide wide, one boy was wide and is now regular.
My non-walking dd is in Soft Star mocks, I'm not sure if I will stick w Soft Star shoes for her or not -- depends on the fit. She has narrow feet.
Children have to have their feet for life, so it's best to be careful in what they wear and take care of those precious tooties.
My sister couldn't have seams in her soxs, even now as an adult! I just don't get it, but she is the way she is.

Stride Rite has been the only shoes my toddlers could wear. One of my kids has many sensory issues and now can only wear Birkenstocks. She's 11, so nowhere near your daughter's age, but I know that Birks are made in toddler sizes, so maybe those might work?

Birks are a great thought.

Electra: Sounds like your sister found a great solution for her sensory issues. The Out of Sync Child might be a great read if someone in your family has sensory issues.

I bought some shiny red Elefantens from ebay. I think I might start stalking the bigger sizes as well....

Thanks for all your help!

Love Elefantens! Dd had the best sandals this summer. Didn't know that they were going out of business. Definitely will look into the new place. I like Naturino shoes...especially when they're on sale!
Naturino Probably find them on Ebay new...and cheaper. Dd likes shoes as much as her ma.

P.S. Check with stride rite outlet for elefantens, might ship to you.

I bought a pair of reebok flip flops @ sears for like $8, maybe less. I wear them all the time. Other than birks, they make my feet feel free!

Stride Rite shoes have always worked well for my kids. I personally prefer velcro shoes, just for my own convenience

During mild and warm weather, sandals are GREAT!

Moss Feet and Tevas (with seamless-toed socks).

I want to buy some birks for DS. I think he is in a 10. I need to go back to the site and look again at the styles.

DD wears Robeez
