I read in a post that Citra-solv will remove the rancid oil smell from my son's bath towels and wash clothes, but I don't know where to find it. Anyone know?

Do you have a health food store or co-op nearby? If they dont' stock it they should be able to order it. You could also just try a few drops of grapefruit seed extract- remember reading that in a thread recently...

Hm- maybe I should try this in my musty skanky washing machine.

Around here, we get it at Whole Foods or Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can also order it onlineor in many catalogs (Gaiam, for one). Love that stuff!

They even carry it in mainstream supermarkets here--it's great!
I also make my own by just adding orange essential oil to water.

3boys, thanks for the suggestions about Bed.Bath & Beyond. I live in a very rural area and we don't have a natural food store near by I have to drive a distance for things, but there is a BBB about 45 min. away, so Iwill check with them.

ladylee, I think I will also try the orange essential oil if I can find it. I am desperate to eliminate that nasty odor from ds's towels and wash cloths

Help! I found the Cita-Solv and tried it right away, but it didn't work!! I washed the towels and washcloths in hot water with the Citra, it smelled great in the wash & I thought it was going to work, but after they were dried, the odor was still there. Did I do something wrong? Anyone have any other suggestions. The smell is terrible & don't want to throw them out & buy new ones. Can't afford to. Help

How much did you use? Did you buy the concentrate or the diluted spray? Did you use it in addition to detergent or alone?

I always buy the concentrate and dilute it myself to match the job at hand. For smelly/oily towels I would add a few ounces full strength to a load along with my regular detergent. If that doesn't work, try adding a bit more. You have to remember that there is a lot of water diluting it's strength in a wash load.

Good luck!

3boys, I used about 2 oz. with my regular detergent, but maybe I should use more. The odor may be set in also, so I will try again with a little more Citra. Maybe it will take a few washings to do the job. Thanks for the info.
