February Mamas~ Week of Jan. 17-23 - Page 10

Thanks Shannon, for the supportive words. Try to get some sleep if you can, because tomorrow you'll be too excited and happy holding your baby to even think about sleeping! I haven't looking into an SNS yet, but I think I'm going to meet with an LC tomorrow and see what she says.

DH is out getiing my rx for the yeast, $102, which my sucky insurance does not cover!

Monica, I wore my hair in two braids the whole time I was in the hospital. I even slept in them, and they still looked okay.

Crying baby...gotta go!

Never got to do the enema - my water broke so we are headed to the hospital now. Looks like Molly and Leah will share a birthday! I am so nervous I am shaking all over! Prayers please!

Oh my, never slept at all, got up to puke a few times though--do you think it could be stress???
They've taken my pre-op blood, just 5.5 hours to go.....not that I'm counting down.....

Oh my gosh, Texas Suz- I am so excited!!!!! Hope that everything goes well for you, and you have the birth that you want.
Shannon, I will be thinking of you today and sending you all the best of luck.
I had an awesome sleep last night. Just woke up at 7.15, and went to bed at 10pm, so pretty good eh? I feel like I can get so much accomplished today, but usually by the time I get dd into bed for a nap, I am pretty tired too.
I have quite a lot of errands to run today, but with 2 ft of snow on the ground, and a state of emergency issued, I don't think I will get much accomplished, yk?
Of course, dh is at work too. Just when they tell everyone to stay at home, his job is always the one that decides to be cutting edge!

Ok ladies, will keep on checking back to be updated.

Oh, and for those of you that are having delivery jitters, I am reading Spiritual Midwifery again, and I just love it so much. It is so empowering.

Speaking of states of emergency... have we heard from Hello Kitty at all since yesterday morning???
morning everybody - what an exciting morning!!!

texasuz - thinking of you and hoping you get a birth experience you can treasure!

shannon - good luck today and think of the relief of not puking for the next nine months (hopefully!).

oh, and you're right, shannon, we haven't heard from hellokitty, but then again, weekends tend to be busy for folks, so maybe she just hasn't been around much.

all's well here. we got a larger diaper pail for both ds's and new dd's dipes. Yay!

Is anybody worried about older sibling insecurity or jealousy when the new baby comes? I had read once that maybe giving a gift to the older child "from the newborn" at the hospital was possibly a good idea to help these issues. i dunno about more "stuff" to address emotional issues and wondered if y'all had any ideas?

thanks!

Yeah Suz and Shannon!! Today's your day! Thinking of you and hoping all goes well!! We hope to hear from you soon!!

I didn't sleep worth a crap last night! I can't wait till I can sleep. I know it won't be all night but hopefully it will be compfortable!! Better go! I have a lot to do today! Really gotta get the rest of the birth stuff done and ready!

Oh yeah! Just a fun thing we are doing with our families. We are having 2 contests. One is to guess the birthdate of the baby and the other to guess what the baby will weigh. It is $1 per game and who ever gets is right on wins the pot! My brother and his wife did it and it was a lot of fun. Our families seem to be having fun with it. Although sometimes I want to smack them cuz some of them are guessing I go way past my due date!! Owell!! We'll see I guess! Okay, really going now! Have a good day!

Thinking of Suz and Shannon... How exciting!

Yesterday was our all-day childbirth prep class at the hospital. It was a long day, but I'm now excited about the birth and getting to meet my little girl. The tone of the class was a pleasant surprise. So many of my coworkers and friend insist an epidural is the way to go, and I am not really all that jazzed about the idea of not feeling most of my body - especially the part that's supposed to be doing the work.

I've been really lax on my childbirth prep reading, so I learned a lot in the class about how the whole birth might go. It was reassuring to hear that meds/epidurals/inductions aren't assumed or even a good idea for everyone. The instructor was kind of pro-episiotomy, but my doc isn't, so that's good.

DH survived the class pretty well. He's not too good with women's health stuff, but I think he's ready to step up to the plate. He keeps asking me if I've done my kegels, but instead calls them klezmers. :LOL
