OK, really need some advice...

Here's the low-down:
I'm pregnant and due any second. I've had a slight cold (mostly runny nose, some sneezing...not too bad. I'm pretty much well.) DH is sick. Probably is the same virus, but who knows. (Don't men always have it "worse" than everyone else? ) DS (who's 2 1/2) had it about like I did, but seems to be over it. (Knock on wood!)
So, here's what I'm worried about. Labor I can do without too much interaction from dh, if need be. But I really am worried about the baby catching this from him. I've thought of asking him to stay at his grandmother's until he's over it, (to try and keep as many germs/virus' out of our environment) but that seems so drastic.
Any ideas? Or any ideas on how to get him better fast?
He's taking zinc, vit. c and lots of water. Although, sometimes it's a battle to get him to.
TIA-

Well, all I can tell you is that my older dd managed to come down with a cold somewhere between when I went into labor and when she came to see us in the hospital. I kept saying things like "don't kiss your sister" which was hard on all of us and was basically hopeless. My little one developed a stuffy nose when she was 9 days old and I pretty much freaked out, but she was fine. Mainly I was terrified that she'd run a fever, which she didn't.

I wouldn't send your dh away. He can obviously be much more careful than a child about touching and kissing. Just make sure he washes his hands a lot.

And congratulations on your upcoming addition!

I am not an expert in any way . . . but I think that

a) viruses are MOST contagious right BEFORE you start feeling sick. So if your dh has already been sick for a while, and if he doesn't sneeze/hack/cough right on your newborn, and if he washes his hands a lot & showers & stuff, he may not really be very contagious at all. And you & ds have already had it.

and b) because you've already had it, I suspect your babe will be getting significant protection from your colostrum & b-milk (assuming you are going to nurse.)

Good luck! My brother was born when I was 5 and I had STREP! It was a homebirth, and I was right there watching. People ask me if I was "traumatized" by being at my siblings' births, & I always say that having to stay on the other side of the room during the birth & not touch my mom or the new baby afterwards were the only upsetting parts for me.

This is exactly what I was going to say!

Thanks you guys. This has made me feel much better. I'm just so hyped up about this, plus when the baby will finally make an appearance...
for some reason, I'm just anxious for labor to start so that I know the baby will be here soon!
Patience has always been one of those things I was sent to earth to learn.
Wasn't born with ANY of it!

Thanks again!
