Ahhhh....Nag Champa

the smell of Nag Champa insense. One of my yoga teachers always burns it and it just completely signals feelings of relaxation when I smell it. I used to burn it all the time in our house but now I don't like burning insense in the house with dd. (DH brought her down while I was burning sage the other morning and it made her cough for a long time...felt so bad. )

So anyway...does anyone know what exactly Nag Champa is (is it a blend of herbs)? And is it available in a oil form that I can diffuse on my woodstove?

Thanks!

Oh hey Erin!
I *adore* the smell of Nag Champa, and a bonus is that it's one of the few scents of incense that DH loves too. I was worried about burning my incense with Rowan too, and I've compromised by burning it at night when he's sleeping upstairs/away from the room it's burning in, but, I also wanted to find some alternatives. So I found this:
The Nag Champa Company

I haven't ordered anything from them yet (I'm poor! ) but, it looks promising!
Hope that helps!

Nag-Champa is the only incense I can tolerate. Most make my eyes water and give me a headache. Nag-Champa does come in an oil, but it is a perfume oil, so I wouldn't recommend burning it. It probably wouldn't difuse right. One idea is to light a stick of incense as your leaving your house. Then when you come back you'll have the aroma of Nag-Champa whithout the smoke. This works for us.

NAK!

I love Nag Champa, too, BUT I just heard that burning incense is worse than ciigarette smoke because it is so particulate, so don't burn around dc. I will try and find a link...

I'd like to see the link...I stopped burning incence when ds was born but recently bought a box....I've been burning it another room and when we're outside. I love having the smell around but hate to think what it's doing to our lungs!!

I love Nag Champa...I like to burn it while I'm drying my hair so my hair smells like it. I wish they had a shampoo!

: Oh I hate to do this, although Nag Champa comes from a forest in India...Its either the Nag or the Champa tree I am not sure which. Anyways, the forests are being destroyed to make this incense. I love it too, but I havent been burning it since I read this.

Are you using this one? http://www.sensia.com/nagchampa.htm
Yes, it's a champa flower. I didn't realize they were rare though. I thought it was a kind of jasmine. Hrmmm. I'll have to look into this more.

Yeah, the sai baba one is my favorite. Maybe if I get a chance tonight I'll try and look into it too.

used to LOVE n/c when we were dating. but since our last little guy was born the smell seems to bug me. i don't know why. it makes me kinda sad because we used to burn it in our bedroom at nighttime. maybe we could try the incense instead. it might just be the smoke that is bugging me. good to know!

I really just have to know...the subject line says "Ahhh...Nag Champa", obviously showing that the person posting likes the scent.
So...why did you post how much you hate it in this thread?
I'm not being mean, I really want to know.

Speaking of VW Buses...I always think of patchouli, actually. Heh. But now, I like patchouli.
I'm turning into a hippie! Ahh!

Okay, I'm done. Cabin fever, you know how it is...

Renae ~ I've totally rediscoverd patchouli...used to hate it back when I had college friends who totally BATHED in it. Now I find that in very small amounts I really like it....reminds me of going to shows!

I've been putting a dab in my laundry, cleaning solution, massage oil etc. with other EOs and it's nice!

Only problem is that it stains so I have to be careful not to use too much.

i love nag champa.. infact there is a stick of it burning in my bedroom right now.. ..i always open the window and close the door so the smoke doesn't get around the house... but i love walking into my room smelling of fresh air and incense..

my auntie gave me a bar of nag champa soap last year, but it just didnt smell the same!

Oh and BUMMER about this. I haven't bought it in a year and a half anyway (the smell REPULSED me when I was pregnant and haven't burned any since dd was born). I guess I'll stick to my EO's diffused in a pot on my woodstove.
