Can you repair wool?

I had just lanolized a pair of wool longies I got from the TP and had layed them out to dry. Apparently my cat likes them because he took them from dd's room and was chewing on them under a table. They have a hole near the knee. Can they be repaired? What about a patch? It's not near the part that gets wet so weill that work? Could I use any fabric to patch? I was so upset!! Any suggestions?

Uh oh naughty kitty

Well how big is the hole? Could you get a hold of some scrap wool yarn and possibly weave up the whole this way with a darning needle? Otherwise a patch you say? I'm not sure how that would secure itself onto the knitted wool. That means you'd have to use a sewing needle right and I don't think that would be sturdy enough IMO But just for clarification they are knitted and not just wool pants right?

hugs to you!

Can you darn them like socks? http://www.hjsstudio.com/darn.html
It really is pretty easy.

You could also knit or crochet a little applique and stitch it over the hole.

If all that sounds beyond you (not sure if you knit or crochet at all), someone could knit or crochet a patch in a similar wool and you could just attach it yourself!

OR I bet there is some mamma out there that would repair it for you. I'd offer but I think someone else (with more experience) would be more helpful to you!

I know its no help, but that happend to use but with a sweater dh's gma made. I took it back to her and she knit a cut applique to match then hand sewed it back on. but i believe she put a few duplicate stitches under the applique first
