Okay, I am currently a no pooer, and loving it. I never did wash either of my daughters hair that much, but they both have horrible cradle cap. I have used the little forest oil and shampoo, and they work well. The problem is that no matter how hard i try, I can never get all the oil out. I almost always used my shampoo to get it out and now I don't want to do that. So any suggestions? I would just let it go but her whole scalp is almost brown. And I thought stopping using any soap on her might help, but it is actually worse, which makes my husband say that no pooing can't be that great. So help, please!!

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.
cradle cap

For 13 months I picked cradle cap off of dd's head. I felt like a monkey. But it was just so gross and pickable and so gratifying when a chunk would come off.
But finally, I stopped shampooing. For about a month I just rinsed her (well, poured a bucket of water over her head) and combed her hair while wet very briskly from her forehead back, getting into the scalp a little. At about week 3, I started getting the nastiest sh!t on the comb during this process. I mean like oodles of brown gunk. Finally about a month and a half into the process it was all gone. Totally gone. And her hair doesn't have that funk to it anymore.
So I guess my advice would be stick with the no-poo and stimulate that scalp! I think that's what does it.....the scalp then produces more oil and loosens all the junk.
Good luck!

Thomi'sMommy - when you would comb your DD's hair, would little pieces of hair come out with the chunks sometime?

Yeah, and it always made me cringe a little.

Any specific type of brush? I have that very soft plastic type brush I think we got when Natalie was born, but I don't see that doing much. We also have a small comb, which is what I used after we put the oil on her head, should I just use that? It is good to know that someone has gotten rid of it without having to use all that junk though, thank you!

I used a fine-toothed baby comb. One of those cheapo ones that comes in a kit of baby products, you know? I just dug in and then combed out. So satisfying when the teeth have collected a centimeter of gunk.

i don't shampoo dd hair at all. just scrub it a warm washclothe. she gets craddle crap every so often. i put breastmilk on it, wait about fifteen minutes, and then comb it with a fine toothed comb. this last time i used olive oil, and got it all out. it was harder to see because her hair is getting long and thick. i don't expect to see anymore. but you never know. i don't use the comb on a dry scalp as that scrapes the skin and looks like it hurts.
