Babylock Evolve, Vent!

After hearing me jest about wanting one, DH bought me an Evolve for Solstice. This is a HUGE purchase for us!

Well once I figured the darn thing out I realized it's no quicker to thread with the Jet Air (though a bit more idiot proof) than my White 2000ATS. Also, that to get the tension right is just as much fussing as with my White, just in a different way. Certainly more options, but I've been less than impressed overall -- I feel like it's way hyped up.

Then, tonight, I went to serge up a reversible baby poncho, which requires serging 4 layers of fleece together at the neckline, and the cutting blade simply couldn't cut through 4 layers of fleece! My White does, no problem. I nearly sliced my finger trying to shove the fabric under the presser foot.

I really want to just sell the darn thing. But I'm afraid to hurt DH's feelings.

Anyway, thanks for listening to the rant!

The Evolve is a huge purchase for most, I am so sorry it is not working out for you.

So would you recommend the White 2000ATS? I have read good things about it especially considering the price. Being able to serge thick layers like fleece is a plus for me.

I just listed my Evolve on the TP. I'm really having mixed feelings about it; it is such a cool machine in many ways! But ....

that said, yes, I like my White a lot. There are others who like it less. I bought it from sewvacdirect.com.

The only thing I don't love about my Evolve is the knife. I really wish it had a seperate top blade like my old Singer Quantumlock (which was pretty crappy otherwise, but could cut like butter )

I am suprised that it's faster to thread your White than the Evolve, though. Is that because you just pull the threads through? Cause you can do that with the Evolve, too.

I use mine mostly for the coverstitch, so I wouldn't ever trade it in until I found something better. Sorry it didn't work for you, can't you return it or is it too late?

What a bummer! I hope you can sell it and buy something youlike more. I have the White 2000 also and I mostly love it!
