Pocket dipe ????'s

Mamas,

I just purchased some pocket dipes (HH's) off of the TP. Never used them before and they didn't come with stuffins.

Question one, could a prefold be used?

Question two, I don't want to purchase stuffin's when I can make something. I have some hemp, sherpa and thick flannel. Anyone know what the dimensions would be for a stuffin if I make one? The dipes are a large.

Thanks!

I would go to the HH site to see what they suggest as stuffins.

I know lots of people use prefolds as stuffing. My favorites (besides the nice hemp liners designed for pocket dipes, very trim) to stuff them are microterry towels (two for overnight) and those gauze flat birdseye weave diapers. They make the diaper soft like a pillow on baby's butt. The prefolds aren't quite as fluffy, in my limited experience. (but they absorb more)

We use stuff-ins & prefolds. I wish I was talented enough to make my own stuff-ins!

***What you have would work great, though I wouldn't do sherpa. Sherpa is very bulky for the amount of absorbency you get. Just measure the HH when it's stretched out and there's your measurements. Or, if you like the size of a prefold, fold your prefold how you like it in the HH and measure it and copy it. Have fun! Making your own diapering supplies is very satisfying, not to mention moneysaving!

Prefolds are geat but not enough absorbancy for us. I use an infant prefold plus a two layer hemp square the same size as the prefold. I fold these all in three and they work great for a good 3-4 hours (depending on the liquid consumption!)

I made the hemp squares two layers because when folded they have a nice amound of absorbancy, get clean easily so they don't get the hemp stinkies, and dry fast. Plus I thought they might make good prefolds for the new baby. Ha ha. Since ds is showing zero interest in PL, I will still be using them for him!

I make mine from hemp french terry. The only drawback is that they have some lumps of fluff caught inside. If i did it again I might sew the smooth sides together to avoid this.
