Recycled bumsweater/longie ??

Do you always felt your wool sweaters before making them into longies and bumsweaters? So far I always have with good results, but often they shrink up too much for ds2's toddler behind Do you skip the felting? Do they still work well for moisture resistance and all that?

TIA

I felted 2 sweaters for regular covers and they were really hard to work with. I may have felted too much, but they were very thick and I doubt they'll be any good on the baby. So I'm trying an un-felted wool now, and hopefully it will work. Supposedly if you use a good close knit and lanolize well, it shouldn't be a problem.

I just made some recycled longies for my son. I bought some 100% wool sweaters and went to town..lol..I didn't do anything to them beforehand, just cut and sewed. They work really well so far, haven't even lanolized them yet. I will, just haven't yet.

I had the same problem!

I've since made a couple without felting and haven't had any problems.
