TOO MUCH Chlorine at Bathtime!!!

My dh filled the tub up tonight to put dd in after a serious blow out. I got down next to the tub with her already in it and was blown away by the smell of chlorine!!!

I worked as a lifeguard when I was first married and always washed the chlorine off, my dd has to have this on her skin b/c it it the tap water that is smelling so chlorinated tonight. This is so wrong on so many levels!

The happens every once in a while, but never this strong -- my eyes were burning. I am calling the city tomorrow to voice a complaint. Earlier this week I thought it was strong when I was brushing my teeth.

Poor dd she loves baths and this one had just started when I rinsed her bumm really quick and pulled her out.

What can one do to neutralize the chlorine when this does happen? Anything?

Our city does this alot in the winter, too. We filter drinking water anyway, but I don't think there's much to do for bathing short of installing a filter for the whole system. For a small bath for a wee one where you don't need much water, maybe you could boil the water? Chlorine boils out, at least the smell does.

We've been looking at tub filters for this very reason. Can't afford the whole house filter, but they run about $50-60 it seems. Just looking for reviews about how well they work...

We have nasty rotten water too. I actuallygot a chemical exposure that caused miscarriages before we figured itout. Our water reeks to high heaven, and I hate to sit her in it. We would never dare let her drink tap water, but what good does that do when you have to sit their tootie in it?? If we ever build a house, we will install a whole house filtration system. As for the chlorine, I have no idea how to handle it.

I miss my cistern. Nothing like bathing in rain water with a few pine needles in it. Really, we loved it. We are on city water now and it is so hard. Is it reasonable to run the water for a few minutes (maybe put it in a few buckets to rinse the sidewalk off or something??) and see if it clears out. Sometimes they must treat the water and they do it with chlorine (I'm not saying this is right..just that they do it..). I would be interested in a bath filter too. Anyone have any good ideas?

They do have these, but no one has reviewed them!! I love love amazon if for nothing else reviews and free shipping. I really had never thought much about this, even though my eyes always burn in the shower. I can't even wear my contacts in the shower. These sound like a great idea. If I can talk my husband into I will write back on if it helped. Some of them aren't that expensive, wish me luck!

I've looked at those too. It drives me crazy when there are no reviews on amazon for something. I also looked on epinions but no reviews.

I called the water treatment plant and they said the level this morning was 2.1 parts per million in my area. And that the water leave the plant at 3 parts per million. I have no idea what these numbers mean, I do know that the chlorine is strong.
The man explained they use the chlorine gas (which is just like the pools I've I worked at) and they have monitoring systems blah, blah, blah...
