Congrats to the Mommies!!!

Welcome Joe, Leah, and Molly!!!!!

It is Chloe's second birthday today! We took her to get pictures done at JCPenny. They turned out sooo good. She was an absolute doll!

Definitly NOT the most depressing day here at my house and on the Feb Thread! I thought it was aweful to declair such a thing!

FreeThinker: If it were an optional induction, I would not do it. I know what you mean about being far from the hospital. I am an hour from my hospital too (with no traffic) and my 1st labor from start to finish was 5 hours. My OB is pushing for induction because of that. I don't feel that "making it to the hospital on time" (my OB's words) is a medical reason to induce. I have heard really bad things about induction. You're body isn't ready and therefore contractions are more intense and painful. If your doc is watching your little one's growth closely, IMO, I wouldn't go for the induction. You will decide what is best for you and your personal situation though. Good luck on making the decision that is right for you. Maybe this full moon will help you out!

Ambam: I have had spurts of energy and total lazyness. Probably due to my frequent insomnia. My 1st PG wasn't like this at all. I also had all my projects done in the 2nd trimester last time and didn't have a little toddler to entertain. Hope you get some energy to do what you feel you need to get accomplished.

Gretchen: My mucus plug didn't show up until I got to the hospital (30 minutes before having Chloe) Also, my water didn't break until she was half way out. If my water breaks this time and my mucus plug comes early, it will be totally new to me.

Elaina: It may be ingrown hairs. I've had really sensitive skin during this PG. I get razor rash (new or older razor) especially around my bikini line or under arms. Also, I've had more infected eye lashes than I've had in my whole life. PG does strange things.

woolfairy: I can't believe you went to Disneyland! How funny! I went during my 1st PG at around 25 weeks or so and was so exhausted I could hardly stand it. (and it was only DH and I with not children) Just thinking of going right now, makes me want to go take a nap.

OK. I'm done posting for now. Take care everyone! to everyone else I forgot to do a personal for.

Love, Tricia

What a wonderful day for babies!!!!!

ugh. My third breakfast stayed with me. Then I drifted around feeling useless until my mom took ds and told me to take a nap. I slept for a couple hours, then woke up and tried starting my day over.

And promptly threw up my late lunch. :-(

I really don't want this to be a warning of labor. On the other hand, I don't want it to be a new phase of pregnancy, either...

Congratulations to all those with new babies! That is awesome. I'm so glad things have turned out so well! I can't believe people are having their babes already! I have a friend that was due Jan 6 and hasn't had her baby yet. : It makes me think I'll never give birth! Seeing pics of all the new babies gives me hope! I'm never early, though. Once I was three days early but I don't even really consider that early.

Congratulations to all the new mamas and dady's too. Hope you are all enjoying your babies first moments, getting lots of rest and relaxation. So happy to you all.

So today I was running errands this morning. Pretty pointless as everything was closed due to the huge blizzard, but at least dd and I got out of the house.
When she was napping, I realised that I haven't felt the baby move all day. So I lay down, ate some pineapple and drank some water, but still no movement. So feeling like a total drama queen I called my mw, who told me to come right in for a stress test.
They hooked me up to a monitor to measure h/r, and contrax, and told me to press a button when I felt movement.
Well, the final outcome, after they gave me something to eat, was that I need to eat more protein and 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Wow, that seems like a great deal of food to me, but I am glad that it wasn't anything scary.

Tug, I have no advice for you on the sibling issue. I have a present from the baby packed in my bag, and I talk to Ella about how much attention the baby will need. That they will cry, when they need Mummy to hold them, change their diaper, hungry, as they are to small to talk yet, unlike my big girl Ella. She is 2 , but seems to understand everything that is going on.
Just today we moved her into her new Big girl bed. It is still a crib, as she is a great sleeper in a crib, and horrid in a bed with or without us.
If you have any advice, please pass it on, as I am sure that we could use it!!!

Congratulations again to all the new parents. XXXX Jasmine

Oh Shannon, what marvelous News. I'm so happy for you and Steve that I'm in tears.
Molly - welcome to the world, your mommy went thru hell and back to get you here, so you know how much she loves you....

And Suz, and Twinmom - 3 babies on one day, how amazing for our little group.

Someone asked about the full moon. I looked it up (www.sunrisesunset.com lets you check moon times for your city). In Colorado Springs (so MST), the moon is at its fullest at 3:30AM tomorrow.

Happy Monday everyone!

Congratulations to our new mamas! I hope your babymoons are glorious. I just wanted to pop in to allay some big baby fears. I got to assist in my friend's home birth last night and it was incredible. We are using the same midwife, so it was really cool to see her "in action" before my birth. And I must say that I am impressed. My friend had a 10lb 8oz baby girl and the worst shoulder distocia the midwife had experienced. But, all is well, baby was delivered without trauma, screamed immediately and lustily, and is doing beautifully. She really likes to breastfeed, but doesn't seem to nurse more than any other newborn. The mama only had minor tearing (she birthed in the water, so I am sure that helped -- well until she had to flip to all fours to get the baby out). BTW, her first was 8lbs, so this was a bit of a surprise to say the least.

Anyway, just wanted to share a story that reinforces what we have been saying about our bodies being able to birth and feed our babies. We are STRONG!!!!!!

yeah for the mama's and babies!!!

Shannon, I am so very very happy for you and Molly! Words cannot express, I'm sure, how you feel right now.
I remember when we spoke on Mother's Day, how sad you were, mourning your three angels and your grandma. It is a brighter day, indeed.
Love and blessings to you.

Congratulations to Shannon and Twinmom!!!!!!!! More babies- yay!!!!

So who's up next?

I had my 37-week ultrasound tonight and baby is still looking great! He is about 6lbs. 1 ozs. at this point. There were no signs of fluid retention. So that is a relief. I am praying that things continue going this way. I have my first appointment with the midwife on Wednesday evening and I will update everyone then.

Tug,
Big sibling advice... I don't have a whole lot yet, but what I've heard and what is working pretty well so far:

If you have to be away from the older child (hospital birth) when they first come to see you, make a big deal of them, how much you missed them, etc., before introducing the new sibling.

Ask them to help occassionally, but not all the time, so that they feel useful.

Nurse them both if you can, and assure the older one that there will always be "na-na" available for them.

Spend some time alone everyday with the older child.

Talk it up. Tell them how they are a great older sibling, how lucky their little sibling is to have such a good older brother/sister, how lucky they are to have a new little brother/sister, how they can do so many cool things that babies can't do (walk and talk, eat, play, etc.), and how when they were a baby they used to (be just like this, be totally different, etc.)

So far, so good, and not too many jealous feelings or regressions going on here, just, I think, the normal amound for a 3 year old.

Hello ladies! I am subscribing. I don't think I am on the 'list' but I am due the 25th of February with our 3rd. This will also be our 3rd homebirth.

Congratulations to all the mommies and daddies welcoming there little bundles.

Shannon, I followed your 'sex in the hospital' thread, LOL. Glad you all are well.

I haven't really been having too many aches but my groin was hurting me pretty good this weekend due to the fact that I was stripping my floors by hand. That is some hard work! I probably would have hurt if I wasn't preggers anyways.

I think that is all for now. I need to get the kiddos in the bath.
