Do you Feel very emotional after watching a sad or scary film or TV show? - Page 2

I totally refuse to watch anything scary or with a sad ending. Why *intentionally* make myself feel weirded out or sad? Besides scary movies always come back to spook me in the middle of the night when I wake up and I HATE THAT! Yes, I'm a big baby. : My husband makes fun of me, and when he wants to watch something scary, he goes with his friends, or my brother.

Me too

I remember watch a few movies when I was young and they maded me throw up and have nightmares for weeks.

The last movie I saw was Event Horizon. Its hard to explain but movies like that (I did NOT know it was that kind) tend to feel evil to me. Their not scary to me but evil . Weird I know.

I watched the show 24 (haven't seen it since because I am at school) where the main person held of a gas station to stop the bad from getting away. It made me mad because you know it never goes right.

MamaFern, I'm a Sagitarious I don't think sun sign has very much to do with this kind of emotional sensitivity, tho. I would suspect it has to do with another astrological aspect, and that there's more than one involved, as well

Only some of them and I haven't been able to figure out why. I was totally freaked for awhile (weeks) after seeing From Hell at the movies. But war movies do not bother me in general ( I don't like the violence much though) and sad movies actually feed my soul, I love them.

Arduinna, I'm guessing that the movie that freaked you out pushed some sort of button for you? (I haven't seen it). Was there one particular scene, or was it the gestalt of it?

It's the same way with me (tho I have more catagories of movies that freak me out). Some movies just touch a nerve....

Yes, a scary movie will stick with me for a while. Event Horizon was really creepy. As for Trainspotting, the baby part still scares me. How sad.

I agree with another post, sappy, sad movies about parents losing their children are the hardest things to watch.

Now this does make sense, from what I've read of the movie. The story has some Christian (or at least Biblical) analogies in the good vs. evil vein. The captain's wife commits suicide, right? Which is a big sin, meaning she'll go to Hell. Doesn't the captain see an image of wife with no eyes? If eyes are windows to the soul, well, he knows what happened to her, she's in Hell. Or at least, that's what the evil presense on the ship wants him to think. That, and I understand that whatever it is haunting the ship from the other side of the universe isn't a malevolent, living alien creature, like in Aliens. It's more like demons. For a movie I haven't seen I know entirely too much! I read about it at imdb.com and netflix.com...

I'm a taurus. But I'm pretty sure my sensitivity is the result of mothering hormones. Pregnancy, delivery, breastfeeding, they all release those powerful chemicals that permanently change the physiology of your brain. I think that's on purpose. That way we have that overwhelming urge to care for these utterly helpless, crying, pooping, nursing, sleep depriving, generally demanding babies.

Oh ITA that it must have. The movie is about Jack the Ripper, for quite awhile after that I had dreams that I was one of the prostitutes and was being stalked. And it was very real and scary dreams. During the movie I was ok, I closed my eyes during the gruesome parts.

I've never been a prostitute or lived in England but it had some sort of freaky flashback feeling for me.
