Just wondering..Ds1 has gastro (almost 3 yrs) and cannot keep anything down, but I'm nursing him every hour or so with hopes that he'll be able to keep breastmilk down. My Question is this - My 2 week old nurses all the time and I'm curious if I should keep them to seperate breasts while ds1 is sick?? What are the chances of ds2 getting sick???
thanks

so sorry you have a sick child while you are enjoying your newborn. but, it's wonderful you are nursing him because that will still be the best thing for him. even if he throws up the milk, it digests quickly so that he will get something in his system. and you have been producing antibioties to help your 3yo and also to help your newborn due to your exposure to the gastro sickness. it's been my experience that if one gets it then they will all get it, but not as bad, and they all get over it quick. i would think they are all vulnerable to the sickness whether they are nursing or not. in fact, without breastfeeding they probably get sicker. i would think it's too late to start going to one side since the newborn has been exposed. but, this is just one opinion.

hope your son gets better soon, and your newborn escapes it!!!

My personal, non-medical opinion is that the baby's been exposed already, so don't sweat it.
