i just finished this, watched it over two nights because it was so intense. i really had no clue about what happened in cambodia, i'm ashamed to say. a friend of mine was there recently and told me the story, so i rented the movie. it was really, really powerful. words do not describe.

and now as i am doing some research on the film, i find out that the cambodian actor, Dr. Haing S. Ngor, who survived the killing fields and went on to play the main character in the movie, got shot and killed in LA in 1996 over his locket which had a picture of his deceased wife in it?!?!

Sounds interesting ~ I'd like to see the movie...never heard of it.

I went to the museums in and around Phnom Phen in 1998. Very powerful experience.

That is such an amazing movie. I first saw it in history class in high school and then again this year I showed it to my dh. The images still haunt me.

I remember watching it when I was a teen. I sobbed. It really hit me hard. It was very hard to watch.
I would love to see it again.
