How much do/did your 3yo nurse?

I'm starting to feel like my son is the only child his age who nurses so much!! Is it "normal" for a 3yo to have breastmilk for breakfast (or breastfast, as Leah called it yesterday :LOL )

It just feels like I'm always deeling with fullness/oversupply- one day he'll nurse tons and get my supply way up and then the next he'll nurse far less and leave me feeling like a water balloon all day. When he was an infant, I'd pump at these times but I really don't want to start dealing with that again. I guess I'm a little jealous of the women who talk about CLW and never feeling any breast discomfort because their dc weaned so gradually. Of course, I know I could have this same breast pain even if I wasn't nursing anybody, but it's still hard not to feel discouraged at times.

that must be quite a rollarcoaster feeling (for your breasts that is).

my boys nurse 3x everyday. they are power nurses cause they do get alot out per feeding. it looks like this is going to go on for a long time. but, i did notice we don't buy much cow's milk anymore. so, my boys are still getting the best, enough of it, and i've got more money in my pocket! but, at least, whenever i get too full and feel stuffed, there is always a nursing around to take relieve it!

they're knocking on my shirt as i type.

your doing great mama!! you ds is very lucky to have a loving mom like you!

Lula is almost 3 1/2, and she tandem nurses with her new brother. She always nurses first thing in the morning, and often doesn't eat anything else until later in the day (breastfast! I love it!) Then she always nurses before her nap, sometimes after it too; and before bed. She also nurses at least 2 or 3 other times during the day when Marcos is eating (how can she resist?) So that's 6-7 times a day, more if she's getting sick or something.

As a newly 3, DD probably nursed in the 3-5+X daily range. As she approached 4 it was more like 1-2 X.

DS is 40 months. He nurses every 2-3 hours during the night (8pm-8am) increasing frequency as we get closer to morning. He also nurses a few more times during the day.

My Paityn will be 3 years old this coming Thursday and she still nurses for breakfast too!

She nurses about 3 times a day and then 3 times at night as well, although this is a recent development... After my new baby was born 4 months ago, she was so delighted that I had milk again that she completely stopped eating food and ONLY nursed. That got to be a little too much for me so at the beginning of January I did begin to encourage her to cut down a little bit.

Anyways, I know how you feel with the breast discomfort. I am dealing with that too and it seems that my milk supply takes a long time to adjust to changes.
