help with a sewing project

Hi all,

I'm a beginning sewer but have sewed enough that I think I can handle the project I want to do. At the library they have these stuffed letters that are so cute and dd loves them. I was thinking I could make her a set. It's easy enough to draw letters on cloth and cut it out, but I'm wondering how to sew them together. The ones at the library looked like pillows but it's beyond me how to turn a letter B inside out and stuff it! lol! Do you think I could not turn them inside out and just use pinking shears to keep them from unravelling on the sides? Any other ideas?

I don't have any pinking shears yet, they are expensive. Do those of you who have some use them a lot? Do you use them to cut out patterns or do you just use them to go over the inseams after the item is sewn?

Thanks!

There is actually a pattern for these.

In my first level sewing class, it was our beginner project, so they are SUPER easy to make. I think it's a McCall's pattern. You should be able to find it at any fabric store.

pinking shears -- i have them, i use them for both cutting and trimming. I LOVE THEM for fleece - as fleece doesn't unravel you
can just cut the edges and you're done.

Great!! Thanks! I'll have to bookmark this link for other patterns, too.

Darshani, someone else mentioned fleece, but you could also use felt which does not unravel. Then you don't have to worry about the hems being turned under.
