40+ and TTC right over here!! - Page 4

Wow, Joan, does that normally happen to you? (The nausea/fainting?)

About the vitex--are there any side effects I should be on the lookout for? Mood swings? (Goodness knows I don't need any more of those!) or any physical stuff?

I am now on CD 22 and I have felt nauseous for 2 of the past three days. Hard to tell if that means anything or not! Been eating a bit erratically lately and that sometimes does it. But one can hope.

Overanalyzing every little twinge as usual...

AF should arrive by next Monday if it's going to.

I have been researching which doctor to go to in case AF comes, since the one we used last time (and loved) retired. I hope they will not want to repeat all the tests. I have my records from the last doctor and am hoping that will be good enough.

DS has been sick so I haven't been able to get to the bookstore to buy TCOYF. Where do you get the BB thermometers - just at the drugstore? Any recommendations for better models to look for?

Good luck to those of you whose O is coming up soon! Seems like there are a bunch of you on the same schedule. I love that "Baby Dust" wish, it's almost like a blessing. So I will use that. Baby Dust to all of us!

Hey Shatki, somehow I missed your post!! I am sooo glad that you are moved it, how very exciting!
Yes, I am unfortunately still here.

greenmansions; if you look at this site www.fertilityshop.com they have an awesome digital bb therm that I want. It would give you an idea of what to look for too.
Most people like the one with a light so you can see the darn thing in the wee hours.

Thanks, Velveteen. will check that out.

GM--the digital thermometer is worth the extra $. Mine does light up, and it beeps when the temp is registered (a good thing because I usually stick it in my mouth and fall back asleep!) It also has a memory, so if I don't record it right away, I can check back later and see what the temp was. I'm pretty sure I got mine at drugstore.com.

cd 8

WOW - some of those O predictors are expensive

I really need some personal experience stories

Polka, are you looking at the saliva tests?

CD 11 for me. LH surge today. I'm not sure what to hope for this cycle...if this isn't my month, I'll be getting my period on what was to have been my due date.

So, how are all my cycle buddies doing?

ONE THOUSAND POSTS!!!!

Hey Joan, I'm cd 11 too, getting a surge but not the peak. I don't expect peak for a couple days.

I hope this is your cycle. We are here with you no matter what.
Thanks, Velveteen.

I'm not really sure what's going on here. On the 6th and 7th I got positive LH tests. No dip in my temp. It's now rising, but it's rising very gradually--not the sudden increase in temp. that I usually see after O. What does this mean? Is this an anovulatory cycle for me? Anyone have a clue?

So I am in shock. We had a BFP on Monday - I did the test twice then went out and bought another brand to make sure. The first ones developed a stripe at around 7 minutes - wasn't sure what to make of that.

This was entirely unexpected - after 2 1/2 years trying for #1, we were not terribly hopeful of success at all for #2.

I went for an HCG test today, and the RE will have me repeat weekly for next 3 weeks. I found out in a previous pregnancy that a miscarriage was pending after the 2nd HCG test, so I am trying not to get too excited til after that. End of week 7 - if I am lucky enough to get there this time - they will do an ultrasound to make sure it's developing properly.

Maybe this will be the month for all of us! Joan, Velveteen and Polka - sending baby vibes your way this week, as it must be about the "right time" for all of you.

Congratulations, GM!!! You're due in...what...Nov.?

Hi ladies, it's me, still lurking. Just wanted to pop on and say congratulations to greenmanshions. You give all us older mamas hope. And I need some hope now. If you can do it - we can all do it.
Lots and lots of sticky vibes to you.
Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

Things may not be so good, the HCG test yesterday was only 30. That is way lower than with the other 2 pregs in which I had it tested. Both were nearer to 200 by this time.

The RE thinks it's still not a done deal either way. She wants to see the next test result, which is in a week - my old doctor did it on the first day of missed period and then 3 days later. So this will be a bit of a wait.

We'll see what happens but I am not very optimistic at this point.

Keep us posted, okay? You're in my thoughts.
Greenmanshions - how are you doing? I am hoping things are o.k. with you.
Thank you Joan and hopeful for your concern. I am doing OK - this is early enough that I didn't really have time to adjust to the idea of being PG, plus we are so cautious not to get over excited given our track record.

I caved and took a pregnancy test today - not an "early" test so that the HCG level has to be a little higher to get a stripe - and it was a BFN. I'll still go for the HCG blood test on Tuesday and will see what that says. I hope then to get MD OK to stop the progesterone so that things will "move along" more quickly. Don't want to waste time waiting around for the actual miscarriage.

I conceived DS the first cycle after a miscarriage, so maybe next cycle will be it.

Oh my goodness Greenmansions, I missed the all important post!! The boards were down, and then I never got a notice about a new post.
Hugs to you sister, I still remain hopeful that things will go well for you. I hope that you will think of yourself as very fertile, and a baby certainly awaits you.

As for me, this is my 18 months ttc and my hope is starting to fade. I just turned 43 years old, and I'm wondering how much longer I should ttc. It takes a lot of life energy to do this, I invest a lot of myself in it, I just don't know how much longer it would be wise. Do I want to keep doing this for another year? Maybe six months? I just wonder. I could use all your thoughts.

Greenmanshions: you sound very positive and optomistic. I know how difficult it must be. You said it best though - you got pregnant and women are very fertile after a miscarriage (if that is what happened). You have every reason to be very hopeful to conceive very soon. My thoughts are with you.
Velveteen - We are both in the same boat as we are both the same age. I have been trying for almost a year now. For me though, I am not ready to throw in the towel. Dh doesen't have any children so it's different for me. I know what you mean about ttc being so stressful. It takes alot out of a woman. Sometimes I feel guilty that I'm not paying enough attention to the children I allready have. Sometimes I feel that I'm letting time slip by even faster by obsessing about a baby and not just relaxing and enjoying my forties and the independance that I have. It's so hard to know the right answer. You have to find it in yourself really. If you've run out of energy and optomism perhaps you should take a break from it. It's just so hard being let down month after month. Maybe a more relaxed approach will be just what you need to conceive.
I read about women our age who get pregnant all the time and I read about women who are our age and can't. I also read about women much younger than us who can't.
All I know is that the right answer lies within us. It is a decision only we can make. I could do the "if I were you" thing. I just think you know what is best for yourself.
