minipill and depression

Has anyone found that the minipill makes their depression worse? I'm on it and wonder sometimes if it is contributing to my problem. I didn't get depressed until I was on it for several months.

Thanks for any info!

I don't have experience with the minipill and depression, but our hormones can play havoc with our depression. Have you gotten your period back yet? I think that mine is on the way in the near future and it's throwing me off a bit. I guess that's why some women go on prozac the week before their period.

I used to work as a pharmacy tech and I know that one of the main side effects of the mini-pill is depression- the others are oily skin/acne, weight gain, etc.

I would definately try to get off it and see if the depression gets better.

Definitely! I had to stop taking the mini-pill because I was too depressed to function. I also started taking brewer's yeast, which helped.

Thanks girls. I am definitely going to stop the minipill. I have never felt such mood swings from one extreme to the other. I feel so out of control at times.

Hi, I had big problems with the mini pill. DH asked me to quit taking them and threw them all away! ( I guess it wasn't really a request! ) There has only been one pill that I didn't have a reaction too, that was Mircette. I had to wait to start that until I was done breastfeeding.

Just out of curiousity, what does the brewer's yeast do?

It is supposed to help with anxiety, depression, irritability, exhaustion, etc. I've also heard it is good for milk supply. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but I felt a million times better after I started taking it. I think I read online that nursing mothers are subject to vitamin b deficiences and brewer's yeast helps with that.
