cheapy valentine's day ideas?

dh and i don't normally do valentines day, but this year i wanted to do something nice for him, without spending much $. (lol, maybe all the pregnancy hormones are making me sappy. ) does anyone else have any cute ideas or plans for their loved ones this year, besides the usual dinner at a nice restaurant/candy/flowers/stuffed animals/etc that most people do?

I'm making a little book for him called "14 Things I Love About You." Sort of a scrapbook/gift book. I cut paper down to about 6 by 4, and have something on each page.

This is really hard for me, cause I am not a lovey dovey kind of person.

That is an adorable idea! I may have to try that. I don't think my 13 year old will go for it but the little ones would love it!

This is an idea for kids but I like to get a little something for them for Valentine's Day. Anyway, www.DoverPublications.com has some really cute tiny activity books for $1.50 or less. My kids really enjoy them.

ekblad7+ thanks for posting that link! I just finally got around to checking it out today. those activty books,etc. and such are sooo cheap!

How 'bout a heart-shaped cake? All you need is a square 8 in. layer (could be cut down from a rectangle pan) and a round 8 in layer. Cut the round layer in half so you have two half-circles. Push the flat sides up against two sides of the square layer to form a heart, then frost. Voila, a heart-shaped cake.

Borrowed- "A few years ago a friend came home on Valentines Day to find that her husband had apparently forgotten and had done nothing to observe the special day. It wasn't until she went to take a shower that she discovered a plastic bag full of Hershey kisses hanging from the shower head, with a note attached that said "On Valentines Day and every day, I will shower you with kisses!""
