Mum2tori- Did you buy all at the same time? Bryn would be potty trained by the time I'd find that many :LOL

Jen- thanks for the link to the recipe!

Ok...I have a question for those of you who have more than one child. Here's the situation: Hannah is a very talkative baby. And when she talks, Kate gets scared and starts crying uncontrollably! I mean, what do I do about that? All of a sudden, Kate has gotten very timid. Now she cries if I so much as sneeze or blow my nose- and Hannah's squeals of delight, forget about it. How can I "toughen" my Kate up? (In a nurturing way, of course. ) TIA!

Mandy~ Sorry that you're going through a tough time with your dad.
That is very cute about the dogs. I don't think my dog will let Desi will use him as a walker. He is too hyper.

Heather~ Grrr! About the shirts that is so annoying. When I pay to ship it fast I mean I want it shipped the next day. Not wait!

Jen~ I hope that Jo feels better soon. You need your rest too!

Savannah~ Yay for sleeping babies! That's good that they slept for the trip. I plan to go camping soon. I hope Desi sleeps on the way down. At least part way. And we're going to Tn too which is like a 10 hour drive babyless. I don't know how long that will take.
I watched a few minutes of Supernanny here and there. The thought of Desi being like those kids makes my heart pound.

Stacey~ I'm glad that Kate is feeling better.

I forgot to tell you guys that Desi rolled from back to bellly yesterday! She did it twice. Once while I wasn't looking. She tried today but got stuck on her side. She was laying on her arms.

bendmom - (I just started CD) - I have been using the Bummis SWW during the day with both CPF and various fitteds. Still trying to figure out what works best for us.

Well in all seriousness, with the exception of a couple of 'large' orders (about $200 each) with the actual WAHMs -MudpieBabies, BizzyBHives, El Bee (though I've sold off most of those ) and a couple of small orders about $30-50 dollars - SimplyCloth, FairlyandCreations, & IvyRose ... I've gotten about 80+% of our diapers used (often only worn once or not at all) or really cheap. I rarely pay "retail" price. I've been going through and putting stuff aside to sell off and thin down the stash.

ETA: This is a stash that has taken almost 4 years to "acquire" and is diapering the third child in many cases. :LOL :LOL I'd never have been able to buy it all at once. I'd try a few things, buying them used or maybe one or two to try out. If I really liked then... then I'd be out on the hunt for more used ones.

Initially when we started CDing almost 4 years ago, I only liked side-snap diapers. Luckily they fit my DD awesome. Now... I'm all about the side-aplix. And sadly only a few make them. My all-time favorite Mudpies/IvyRoses!! but I hate to abuse my friendship with Steph and harrass her too much for diapers. So I've been trying a few others lately... so far no one has come close.

Thanks for complimenting my cooking, however, the one thing you wanted a recipe for was the only thing I didn't make myself! : The blue crab artichoke dip I got at Costco - Atlantic, was the brand, I believe. That Huxtables' brand artichoke dip from Costco is also really good. But hey - I got some mean recipes for garlic-rosemary lamb, cheesy potatoes (a family favorite) and pistachio ice cream, if anyone wants them!

I just got back from Chicago. I had to go up there for a commercial audition this morning. It was for a product called Woolite Oxy Deep, a carpet stain remover. It shoots later this month in Detroit so wish me luck in getting a call back next Tuesday. It would be cool to get the job, as it is a national network spot which would be big $$$. It was really hard though to leave Alex this morning! That was the first time I've ever been away from him. It was only for 8 hours, but it sucked! He went to work with his Daddy, then Dh brought him home 'cause he was crying too much!

Here's a few new pics in my sig under his name...

P.S. Maggie, our Boxer, looooves Alex. She has to be in on everything I do, always sticking her nose in there, getting in my way, literally. She lays hext to him when he's on the floor. He has just recently taken an interest in her, and when she stands over him, he reaches up and grabs her big floppy lips and ears. Oh, and she is pregnant! I am about to have a mess of Boxer puppies in about 3 weeks - yikes!

Tristan missed his morning nap, he seems to think that closing his eyes while he nurses counts.
LOL sounds like my Peter.

As fr Pets. SIL has a cat that he will watch but the cat is not to excited about the baby. At first he moved to much then she got used to that. Well Peter just found his voice and OMG she won't even come in the room now if Peter is in it.

Anyone living in the south?

Gurr it is Feb and the bugs are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :

What did you have for dinner?

We had grilled Ham and Chees and a salad.

oh my gosh, I'm just picturing Alex with two fistfuls of boxer drool. eeeeeeeeeeeeeew...! :LOL

Stacey - just last week Steph and I put Oscar and Tristan in the corners of the big armchair. (It was really freakin' adorable and wouldn't you know, I couldn't find the digital camera!! : ) At first Tristan was grabbing Oscar all over - ears, nose, hands, legs, and Oz looked at him like "dude! what ARE you doing!", but it didn't bother Oz and he started babbling very happily - and then T's bottom lip started to quiver... and then the full siren cry! (you know... starts on a low note and goes wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwahhh!) Tears and all. I don't know what it is. He doesn't do it too often but there has been more than one occasion with another happy baby where he gets upset. He's done it with Estella too. My mom says he's hypersensitive and that I should take him out into louder places more often

Does anyone else have a baby who is not yet eating solids but seems desperate to do so? Tristan will not leave any food alone. He reaches for it whether he's in arms or in his chair or on the floor. He now even recognizes bananas by sight and reaches for them on the kitchen counter. The Dr said to wait til 6 mos. That's going to be a long month to wait!!! Especially for the little T-man!

Have good evenings. Jo is feeling better and is going to work tomorrow, and the mommy party / play group is still going on as scheduled.

thanks! He's around 17 lbs and 25 inches... chunk-o-rama.

Here's my new favorite picture of T and me. Updates to web page, beginning middle of page 13 (link in sig): pictures from the Thaw plus a SUPERDUPER pic of T and Jo, and pictures of our super bowl party where we really only saw about 15 mins of the game - but had a great time with two babies who were happy at the same time!!! T even smiled at Estella

Mujul- I live in Ga too and the ants have been taking over my house LOL. They always start about this time of year. We live in the mountains so at least we dont have fire ants like we did in SC. They are the worst! I can get one bite on my foot and it is swollen for days.

LOL Julie about Peter and the cat. Sometimes I wish Wasabi would be scared of Desi. Although sometimes when Desi poops are farts Wasabi will bark at her butt. LOL. Silly dog. No problems with bugs yet. I think that you can stop the emails by going to your profile and choosing not to subsribe to emails you post at.
For dinner we had chili with veggie dogs and broccoli on the side.

Jen~ Cute picture! Desi thinks that closing her eyes count as a nap too. Whats up with missing morning naps? Desi missed her's too. She took a short afternoon nap. She went to bed early tonight though.

StacyL~ Cute pictures of Alex.

Hey all!

Well there was about a million things I wanted to respond to after reading the last few pages, but I got called away to eat dinner and now I've forgotten what I wanted to say! Let's see what I can remember...

Pets- There are 3 big dogs at the farm which all kiss Mielle regularily, she isn't fazed in the least, in fact she always seems to open her mouth and ends up getting french kisses! yuck! Mielle is very interested in our cats and they are pretty affectionate to her. Bascha (the female) is especially affectionate and will writhe about next to Mielle on the bed. She seems to think that Mielle is petting her when her waving arms happen to bump her. Kitty Boy (the male) is such a big fat mellow cat that he doesn't really bother with running away, he is just the most patient cat....

Cloth Diapers - I got hooked on fitted diapers when I started using Kissaluvs with a Bummi SWW. The prefolds quickly became barf rags and milk towels. I am currently using Cricketts diapers with bummis covers. I did buy a Fuzi Bunz but found it tended to wick against her jammies and didin't use it much. I think my stash is valued at about.... $200.00 or so. I also sewed my own covers, made from fleece that I bought at the local fabric store. And no, I didn't get my diapers all at once... I usually could only spend $50 at any one time. Oh yeah, I also inherited my older sisters stash of prefolds which do work just fine... I'm just spoiled by my Cricketts! I love snaps! Good luck with diapering... remember ther is alot of money to be saved in the long run. Most cloth diapering sites online have figures to back that up.

Well, Miss Mielle is really starting to squack... Grandma and Grampa get kinda overwhelming after awhile and we are getting awful close to bedtime. I was hoping to post some new pictures... me with purple hair... blue eyed Mielle, but they are uploading ultra slow! I may just have to give up and take Mielle home!......
Nope, enjoy the pictures http://share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?...5atXhg&notag=1

love to all!

Jen, wonderful picture(s)!!! And I love the rainbow socks.

Stacey, I always said you should be a model... I didn't realize you already are, LOL. Best wishes. I hope we get to see you on TV!

LOL at the dog barking at the baby's butt. Mine just sniffs.

And we're missing naps over here lately, too. I don't like it. But at least they're more content playing than when they were tiny. I can still get some FLYing done around the house...

For CDs... I learned I would need 36 diapers to last twins long enough to wash about every day and a half. So I decided to go with simple and cheap -- prefolds, covers and Snappis. I shopped on the TP for prefolds and covers cheap... Then lo and behold, someone was selling off their whole newborn stash, and I wanted it! It was about 22 diapers. So I bought those, and enough prefolds from someone else, to add up to almost 40 diapers in all. With the stash, I was able to try out lots of different things. She had fitteds, mostly velcro but some side snaps too; also a couple of AIOs and a few pocket dipes. Lots of different covers. I loved being able to try out some new things. My initial newborn/small stash for twins totalled about $115. And I got 5 pocket diapers and one AIO as baby gifts off my internet registry (my only brand new diapers).

Then after we'd been CDing for a couple of months, my dh decided he didn't want to mess with covers. He asked me to buy some coverless dipes. Again I went to the TP, and found about 20 pocket diapers averaging $4 each (Just under $80 total). It ended up being free, though, since I exchanged $80 worth of disposable diapers that were given to us at Walmart, and we used the gift card they gave us in return for our groceries. I bought the cloth diapers with $80 from our grocery budget, hence the "free" diapers.

I've since picked up another 20 or so diapers and covers in size medium and large from the TP and from swaps. Also basically free, since I exchanged another $75 worth of gifted disposable diapers. (And I could beat my dh, because the other day I noticed he had opened a GIGANTIC box of size 3 disposables that I doubt we'll ever need, and that I could have exchanged for BIG BUCKS. Grrr.

My large and extra large stashes will probably also be basically free, because I'm starting to trade and sell stuff on the TP and will try out eBay too. Then I'll just use the Pay Pal I earn to buy the dipes I need. I also hope to be sewing useable dipes by then.

Which reminds me... I did finish that first pocket dipe; one day I'll post pictures. I had no real pattern, and it ended up narrow in the waist with big leg openings. I know how to fix it, though, and will -- when my sewing machine gets fixed! This is already quite an expensive hobby!

Blah blah. And for dinner I had two pieces of cold pizza and some pink lemonade. Great, eh? I tend to eat healthy lunches, though, so don't worry... (Actually dh ordered the pizza because he babysat while I went to my twin club outing -- to our local Bead Bungalow. The club ended up paying $25 of our purchases, wow!!! I can't wait to show you what I'm making. I have to go back tomorrow to finish it.) Being there made me think of you early sept. mamas who did the blessing bead exchange together. That was fun. Did you slackers who had the babies before finishing yours, ever go back and make your bracelets/necklaces? =O)

And can I say, I just LOVE this smiley??? hahahaha
post #178 of 564
Oh, Anna, what wonderful pictures! We cross posted. Your hair is wild, girl! And I cannot believe what deep blue eyes Mielle has. My favorite picture is #10. I didn't remember Daddy having a beard before???

And I forgot to answer the question, what do I stuff in my Bummis covers... I just snap or velcro the cover over whatever fitted will fit under them. Or over the Snappied prefolds. The Bummis are definitely my favorite covers. Those and the Mother Ease ones. Well, I've also become quite attached to the reused wool sweater covers I got in swaps. Wool really does rock! But I'm down to just 2 left; the others got poo on them and I haven't been able to bring myself to do the whole wool washing and lanolizing routine. I'm sure I'm making it scarier in my mind than it really is, though...

Hey Stacy, how did you get dh to dress up like that? I could barely get mine to wear a suit jacket to our own wedding .

Anyone's dog lick the spit up off your little one? I turn around and Kelly is licking it out of Bryn's mouth all the time. It's all I can do to keep her from eating the spit up rags!
Gross. Luckily our babies don't really spit up. But our dog loves the chance to eat... POOP! We had a poopy disposable diaper from our trip to FL in a low trash can (it's been so long since disposables, I'd forgotten about keeping it out of dog's reach)... Next thing I know, the dog had eaten the poopy parts and there was gel and paper and plastic all over the floor. He's eaten the crotch out of our underwear, too. All of ours. Just loves that earthy scent, I think. Blech! Didn't I hear once that dog mouths were supposed to be really clean??? And they lick us???

OK, all these recent cute pictures inspired me to finally get mine updated. So enjoy: http://share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=EeAM2TRszcsWzHbg It's really long. I intended it for family to slog through, but I'll bet even they won't go through all those pictures, LOL. Check out the cute birth announcements at the end...
