HB after 2 preterms births?

Hi-New to this forum but not to MDC.

We are currently TTcing for #3 and I am thinking about Hb again. I say"again" because we planned a HB with our first son and worked with a midwife, but very unfortunately, he came at 24 weeks due to a placental abruption. very fortunately we were 4 minutes from a great hospital with NICU-because of this we were blessed with him here on earth for one night. Labor for my son was 30 minutes after my water broke.

Our DD was born at 36 weeks in a hospital (planned) after trying to come out at 32 weeks (I was put in hosp. then) DD was born 53 minutes after my water broke. Beautifully crying, and rooting for breast minutes after birth

Any input on the liklihood of a midwife even considering me for HB? I hope this not to broad of a question here. Any similiar short labor stories?
Thanks !

so go and see if you have an infection like BV , mycoplasm or even GBS if you have a vaginal colony of these critters you should get treated before you get pregnant. It can reduce your chances of having PTL.

I don't think most MW's have a problem with short labors- I don't know about the history of abruptions.

FWIW- I had 3 very short labors and was certain that the next babe would be short too. Not so! My MW said its often the case with women who do HB for the first time- the labor just seems to take a little longer because its a new experience- BTW- I'd had 5 hospital births and then a HB with my 6th- it was one wonderful experience! Had a really hard time finding a MW for a HB but man it was worth it!

thank you both for your input. I will check the infection route. And hearing about HB after hosp. births is very encouraging-THANKS!

I don't think any of that would risk you out of a homebirth. Obviously if you go into preterm labor earlier than your midwives cut off you will go to the hospital but if you make it to 37 weeks or whatever I can't imagine why she wouldn't be happy to assist you. Lots of moms have short labors, I've never heard of it disqualifying them for a HB. Plus each labor can be different so you never know til it happens.

I had my ds at 30 weeks ....the only reason for PROM that could be found was stress. I found a wonderful midwife, who took me on as a client even though it was agains the laws of our state. Our reasoning? If I had another PROM, she would be legally unable to deliver the baby anyway if before 36 weeks....if I didn't have a premature delivery, there was no other previously related risks. ANYWAY, I visualized, meditated, took lots of calcium, took lots of vitamin e and a; and had the most perfect at home delivery! as a matter of fact with the exception of the "hole" where the water popped and my sweet dd came out, my placenta and sac where totally intact thick....my midwife had never seen such a sac...it looked like a sack...ha!
good luck! you can do it! be persistant!
