The only ones I've read are A.N. Roquelaure's (Anne Rice) Sleeping Beauty series. I didn't care for them at all. I will be watching this thread for recommendations though.

Anais Nin

Read Anais Nin! I've read Delta of Venus and Spy in the House of Love and Henry and June. All are wonderful books. I think the first two are collections of short stories, I don't know if that makes a difference though.

Nicholson Baker wrote two erotic novels that I've read: The Fermata and Vox. The Fermata is about this guy who comes up with various ways to stop time. It's a bit about Baker's obsession with close observation and description and their power, but he applies everything he knows about thick description to the sexual imagination. It's a sexy book with a lot of literary merit.

Vox I don't remember as well, I read it in 1994. It was about two people have a really long phone sex conversation. I remember there was one scene about olive oil. It was a little strange, or maybe I was just not at the right place in my life for it. I gave it to someone on my travels.

Nancy Friday has several books out that contain lots of fantasy stories sent in by women (and men, in the case of one book).

Try the Best Erotic Fiction collections edited by Susie Bright. There are always a couple of non-appealing stories depending on what you are into, but most are well written, creative and super sexy.

I liked the Sleeping Beauty series.
haven't read that stuff in awhile
maybe it's time to get the homefires burning again?

Erotica is so subjective....

I found that the Sleeping Beauty series did much more to treat my insomnia than to melt my butter, but it may be just me, as I look at the previous posts......

Anthologies (try searching for ones edited by Susie Bright, or the even Herotica series) are a good place to start, because there's bound to be an author in there who is bringing what you're hungry for to the table, you know?

I just read exit to eden, little erotica, more romance lots of talk unlike the sleeping beauty series. Especially beauties punishment, but again it isn't for everyone.

I've read a lot of the Secrets anthologies. I think they are up to Secrets, volume 10 now. They are just short stories by several different authors with all sorts of different types of themes. Try one out and if you like it, you can get all the others! I've found that I like most of the stories, some are just okay. The stories are more than just the "Wham, bam, thank you m'aam." HTH!
