Does anyone use cloth toliet paper? If so where do you get it or how do you make it? How do store and wash it?

Thanks

I have a friend that does this. I've thought of doing it. She has a small container next to the toilet where she puts her rags. She just cuts up old shirts, old kitchen towels etc and has those in a basket by the potty. I think she still uses TP for bowel movements.... not sure. But she just washes like one normally would wash clothes.

We (well I) use cloth tp. But not for bms just pee. I keep a bunch of old flannel squares by the toilet and a little bucket too. After I use one I put it in the bucket. I wash every day, when I remember

Wow! I think this is such a cool idea. I can't believe I never thought of it. I use cloth pads, cloth diapers, why not cloth tp? I must admit I'm a drip-drier myself :LOL
Sorry if that was TMI.

There's a few threads about this over in Natural Home and Body Care...

I use cloth tp. My dh probably doesn't, but I don't know. We keep paper tp for guests and when I run out of cloth :LOL

I started with just using it for pee, but then I realized, hey poo is just poo! And then I started using it for BMs, too

My system is simple: I have a basket next to the toliet with rags in it. (Old t-shirts I cut up). After I use it, if there's anything solid on it, I rinse it off in the sink. Then it goes straight in the washing machine, where I wash it with my next load of laundry.

I've been surprised, actually, at how much cleaner my bum gets after using cloth... sorry if that was TMI, but it is kind of fun to me! :LOL

I've thought of doing this too. I even sewed up a couple flannel wipes. I'm sure dh would freak out, but perhaps I'll start collecting more wipes and give it a go!

I use them on the kids and sometimes myself. They just go into the diaper pail and get washed with the dipes.

I use cloth TP. Nothing earth-shattering. I use the wipes all the time. I just throw the used wipes into the diaper pail after use. Like alexisyael I've noticed that it gets me cleaner after BMs than paper TP did. Plus, it feels nicer.

What about water?

In much of Asia, they keep a pitcher of water by the toilet, and you pour and use your left hand to scrub (right is for eating). Quite efficient really, and gets you really clean. Just wash your hands afterward. I imagine it wouldn't use anymore water than washing the wipes. I enjoyed this practice when I lived in India, and am thinking about getting back to it.

harmonymama -- here that wouldn't be good in the winter-time (I already can't use the bidet in the winter, cause it's WAY too cold ) but in the summer, it would be good...

Do you use cloth to wipe the water off (similar to using a bidet cloth) or just air dry?
