removing amalgrams?

Most things I've read about this suggest that you wait 6 months to a year to start trying to get pregnant after replacing amalgam fillings. (This is from sources that advocate the removal and replacement of amalagam fillings.)
I posted a bunch about this in another thread--"anyone had amalgams removed?" and so you might want to look there . . . .
I had my mercury levels tested by a naturopath when I was considering replacing my amalgams. My levels were somewhat elevated, and she stated that it would probably be 6 months to a year before I was ready to TTC. (Which sucked, because I was planning to start in the next month or two when I first came to realize that dental amalgams released merury into the body
) She recommended getting all my amalgams out first, then doing a series of IV chelation treatments coupled with colonic irrigations.
For a variety of reasons I decided not to go to this particular naturopath for treatment and found another one. He recommended that I could get an IM push of DMPA every three weeks, an EDTA IV drip weekly, take DMSA daily M-F, and take a Mercury Detox amino acid blend daily. He recommended a diet low on the food chain, high in fiber and drinking lots of water, and weekly enemas during active detox. He suggested I do this protocol for four months, and then retest.
I did about two or three months on the oral DMSA and did some enemas and did a few EDTA drips, did some research and decided against the DMPA because I read some research which made me question its safety. I finally decided to stop chelation, wait a couple of months and just start trying. I was getting to the point where I was feeling frustrated because I had already had to put off TTC for almost a year after we'd decided to have a baby, and I was terrified that I would get pregnant accidentally while chelating and end up with a messed up kid because of it, and my kidneys started hurting, and I was stressed out both emotionally and extremely stressed financially. I also didn't feel like the chelation was otherwise improving my general health. I figured I have probably removed any mercury from my bloodstream that was there from the removal procedure, and I'm not exposing my body to any further mercury from either amalgams or fish, and I will not let my hopefully-future-baby be exposed to any thimerosol containing vaccines or get any amalgam fillings him/herself or feed him/her any fish containing high mercury levels, and that will have to be enough for now. I stilll take the amino acid blend, which the Dr. said was safe to continue even once I did get pregnant, and I try to eat a lot of garlic, onions, and cilantro, all of which are natural chelators of mercury and heavy metals.
