I am interested to watch this but I won't be home..

The clip they showed made it seem so dramatic

'Mothers online looking for breastmilk for their babies.. find out why at 11'

I think it will just be information about milk banks.. and how some women privately sell their breast milk

So NBC is going to take a turn too (didn't ABC just do this story)? Is this tonight or has it already aired?

If it's at 11, is it a local story?

Hm, I think that is www.whdh.com

It will probably be on the website after it airs.

I'm in NH and see the Boston (Channel 7, NBC) news and I saw the same promo...but my preggo self will be long asleep at that point , but if anyone in the New England area catches this - please post!!

Heck I'm using tooth picks right now to keep my eyes open to see this. I heard about it today on the radio. Nto sure if it's just a Boston thing or not. If I can stay up, I'll post about it.

The report was well done and featured comments from Massachusetts Breastfeeding Coalition members Marsha Walker and Susan Brown. IMO, it was a fair and balanced piece, acknowledging that there can be risks in milk sharing but emphasizing that precautions can be taken.

Jen from FeedMyBaby.com was also featured. I liked the fact that when they said "some women can't make breastmilk" they used Jen as their illustrating example.

Really, I was very pleased with the story. Yay MBC for doing the work that they do!

I caught the end of the report last night purely by accident. I was a little disappointed about the tone of the story as a whole and especially the AAP doctor who said nothing about the incredible benefits of breastmilk but instead cautioned parents about potential contaminants from the donor mothers. Well DUH, no one is out there soliciting breastmilk from IV drug users. Most people do almost no research about formula hazards and she's not talking about that.

I agree JordansMommy. While the piece had some positive information, they still took the whole *scare* approach that...oooohhhh you don't know what you'll get. Pullleeeease. That AAP doctor was a joke. I was glad to see that they used a woman who had a mastecomy & that's why she couldn't breastfeed. Instead of someone who just supplemented & then said she couldn't BF.

I firmly believe that Susan Browne's remarks were snipped. She is a respected member of the AAP, an IBCLC and an active member of the Massachusetts Breastfeeding Coalition. Channel 7 failed to mention/disclose that information in their report.
