I can't belive my insurance paid!!

My insurance only covers HB with a CNM. I used a CPM. I went ahead and filed a claim, thinking that I was going to have to fight to get any reimbursement at all.

I had forgotten about it and just got a check for $650! They didn't question my midwife's credentials at all. I had to cover my deductible and 30%.

So, if you are on the fence give it a try.

That's great! We're still waiting. We filed our claim early last Fall, and our midwife's insurance claims person took over before Christmas. Our insurance says that they cover midwife births as out of network. We'll see.

Originally, I was going to birth with a CNM at the hospital down the street. But I switched to a CPM at 28 weeks. The $1500 that we paid her is still less than our 20% of a hospital bill. We paid over $3000 for ds's hospital birth.
