Walden by Thoreau

I'm starting to read this book and would love to discuss it with anyone who has read it, or if anyone wants to start it and read it too then come along!
I'm looking forward to reading about his insights on simplifying and to see what I agree or disagree with.
It's a classic, so it should be in any library, or even online somewhere probably.

I'm not sure if anyone has read it or not, but I'm sure some of you have since lots of us here are into natural living.

I read it years ago and enjoyed it. A real rebel. And he wrote some lovely conceits. I liked what thoreau said about how anecdotal evidence is sometimes too hard to deny, such as when you find a trout in your milk!

We LOVE that book here and try to incoporate much of our lifestyle from his writings or at least be inspired by them.

My husband sees the world VERY similarly to Thoreau.

One of my favorites is a line something about, beware of any occasion that requires new clothes rather than a new wearer of clothes. hehe. the man is more important than his clothing. Of course I do fight with my dh about this. He wore out a pair of pants, both butt cheeks popped holes (he sits on cinder blocks at work) and he insisted that I patch them. The fabric was so worn, I would have had to patch the ENTIRE butt area of his pants. Ummm, I dunno! I handed them over to his mom to see what she can do with them. He is priceless and that book is awesome.

If you really like him, try Holy Earth by Liberty Hyde Bailey. He is another that we really dig from a similar viewpoint.
