Does anyone know anything about waterlase dentistry?

My local news station did a story on it and I am very interested in trying. The whole pain free thing really has me.

Waterlase is a laser (YSGG dental laser) which is approved for both hard (tooth) and soft(gum) tissue surgery. The advertisement of it allowing for painless dentistry is only true part of the time. First of all the machine cannot be used to remove amalgam. Secondly, although it is possible, it is much more difficult to use for anything other than surface decay. It is much more useful for gum and bone surgery. This requires anesthetic most of the time. I do not subscribe to this type of advertisment in our service sector. This and 'laser' bleaching is a totally unprofessional way to attract patients in IMHO.
