ds like sucking on toothbrush = hard to BRUSH teeth

Any suggestions?

I am SO thankful that he doesn't get upset about brushing teething, but he likes how his toothpaste tastes, so he tries to suck on the toothbrush, which makes it hard to brush them!

I've tried sticking my finger in the gap between teeth, but that only sorta work, and he still has strong gums that hurt even without teeth and he still tries to suck, so I can't get to the fronts of his upper teeth very well.

So if anyone knows anything that might help thanks in advance!

How about you give him a big m*f*er toothbrush to chew and suck on, and then use a second small one to brush while he sucks? Which reminds me, maybe I should do same for my little sucker

He's still pretty little, but I get ds (almost 3) to open up by singing a melody (Twinkle, etc) on the vowel "ah." He sings right along, and you can't sing "ah ah ah ah" with your teeth clenched very well! For "cheese" (what we call brushing the front teeth) we sing "ee ee eee" with a big smile.

When he was younger we would look for a favorite character from a book (or, ahem, a TV show) way back in his molars - "hey, I think Caillou is hiding in there somewhere..." while I brushed, and I would make a big deal about finding it/him/her. That was a very effective distraction.

Good luck!
