Where can I get such a thing? A kit? What type of design?

Anyone else ever do this? How'd you like it and what design did you use?

Thanks,
Kristin

This sounds really really cool! I really do not want a belly cast, (I dont think) but I would love to do this at my blessing way.
If anyone has done this please please share, & if you have pictures that would be awesome!!

I have a friend who's a professional henna tattoo artist and she did my belly. She did a really intricate design- kinda a mandala. I really liked it for a bit, but then I started to hate it- was too much (and I live where it's hot and we go to the beach a lot, so it was always showin). SO in the end I took a loofah and scrubbed it off....
it was cool for awhile though.... I recommend not drawing TOO much on there. My dh thought in hindsight that it would be cool to tattoo around the belly rather than on it directly, because the belly was so beautiful naturally-- kinda like framing it.

Have fun

I wanted henna and couldn't get my act together to do it... but I had my DH do a little something artistic instead scroll down to the bottom to see it

Thanks for sharing!

Very cute belly! That baby is a keeper, too!

I'm going to head over to Whole Foods Market to see if they have any kits. I already planned a "party" with a friend who is due 2 weeks after me. I can hardly wait!

I went to my local hippie store (sells herbs, jewelry, various pagan statues and dungeons & dragons type stuff) and bought a little kit with henna powder, a henna stencil and a henna cone and tip and instructions on how to use it all. The henna was probably a little old, but it still did the trick. My friend Sarah (mcsarahb here on MDC) was a month more pregnant than me but we hung out at her house and painted each other's bellies and sat out in the sun and let them dry on a random hot Saturday last April. They looked pretty cool and mine lasted just about 2 weeks before it faded. Here's a pic of my belly with the henna paste still on. The longer you leave the paste on, the darker the the staining on the belly. I washed mine off later that day in the shower. I borrowed some books from the library to get some ideas about designs, but Sarah and I just made them up. It was fun.

I just bought this from Hot Topic at the mall but haven't used it yet. It comes with a couple of stencils, which should be helpful.
