Hi! i recently had a wonderful birthing experience with 2 great midwives and their apprentice. I'd like to get them each a gift but don't really have any ideas. Any suggestions?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

With my last birth, I got my midwives a copy of this get Herbal book for mother and child. It was a great reference for them. I got it because I thought they were probably sick of getting trinkets for their homes or bath products.
THis time, I'm thinking of a baby picture framed. There is a neat photographer near me that does beautiful black and white shots of babies and young kids. My primary midwife's office is fairly bare so I think it would be nice (and neutral).
Other thoughts are:
- gift certificate
- dessert
- alternative books on birth (for the centre)
- music
- concert tickets (not sure about that one)
Just some thoughts. Congratulations!!!

She may already have it, but The Red Tent by Anita Diamant is an excellent novel about midwives in biblical times.
My midwife already had it so I got her an Ann Geddes picture of 3 babies in a bucket and it said "babies are such a nice way to start people" (or something to that effect).
I liked the idea of concert tickets.

Thanks for the ideas. I do know that my main midwife has read The Red Tent but otherwise that's a great idea. I like the idea of a framed photo. My midwives don't work out of an office but come to the home; still I think they would appreciate a nice artsy black and white photo. I enjoy photography and am usually able to get some nice shots. So I think I might give this a try. Hopefully I'll have the time to get aound to it. but if not, I'd love to hear more ideas. Thanks!

You can't go wrong with a gift certificate. I just saw "New Baby 1/07" on your signature. So what did you give her? How did the birth go? Congratulations!
