Help - Need Strength on Hard Toss

Okay, I'm looking for some words of encouragement here - and hopefully soon because the garbage pick up is tomorrow morning. :LOL

I want to get rid of some old notes from university. I have not looked in these binders in 6+ years but .... I guess I'm attached. The notes are not stellar examples of functional writing and I'd never look up information in them, I'd always go to the internet/textbook/library. I'm not in the same field anyway and its highly unlikely I'd go back without a fair bit of retraining (in which case I'd have new notes)

PS I'm throwing them in the trash instead of the recycling bin because the recycling bin was my downfall last time (looking at the paper was a BAD idea) so please don't flame me!

I have the same problem! My college stuff is all in a box somewhere!
Maybe go through and keep a extra special lecture or something.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!

You can still recycle, just either get someone else to do it, or just open and dump!!

You can do it! Just toss it out.

Thank you all.

I managed to get all but 3 binders into the trash (didn't want to risk another year of clutter - sorry Irishmommy!).

Good luck to you Emilie.

If you are still having trouble, FP, I'd recommend that you spend a little time journaling about your reluctance to throwing these out for good. Maybe you attach memories from college, or it means you're really leaving behind your old field, or something else? After you've written down your thoughts, see if it's easier to put those papers behind you and in the trash. Good luck! Your post was a helpful reminder because we have some boxes of notebooks downstairs that we will eventually have to face, and I'll be dealing with this also pretty soon.
