Making diaper bag Stand Up

Thread Starter
I have a store bought bag that is heavy canvas but stands up because the used the plastic-inside-piping. I am going to need a much bigger bag to contain two kidlets with cloth diapers, so am having a custom bag made. Its very spify, but how do we stiffen it? Using a packcloth fabric, but would like bag to stand up by itself. Considered using milk just plastic in bottom and side panels but think it would break and not stand up to much wash & dry. Stiffener needs to be durable to jumping toddler and hot wash/dry treatment - BUT still sewable by home machine.

Suggestions???

Well, if you use interfacing on the material, it should be fairly stiff. Try ironing on interfacing onto the outer fabric (not the lining) and see if that works for you.

Check out this stuff - Timtex. I have heard lots of good things about Timtex on other sewing boards, including for tote bags.
