How is your baby moving?

I have mental images of this baby swimming around inside me and swimming out. Maybe I have forgotten what it was like with Grace, but it seems strange what large movements s/he makes. (Aren't they supposed to slow down at this point?) Almost daily s/he switches back and forth between facing left or right or in the middle, and being straight or kind of diagonal. Last week s/he seemed to be really low: I felt very heavy when I was walking, and I couldn't find her head, etc. Then all of a sudden no more heavy walking, and I was lying in the bathtub feeling the lower part of her body wiggling all the way at the top of my belly (like, at my ribs)! I keep thinking, how can there be so much room in there? I'm feeling feet kicking my sides. Big all over wiggles.

Is this normal?! Since I've never had a u/s, I worry a bit that I may be giving birth to a fish creature.

Wow! glad to see this topic.

I actually just logged on, coincidentally, to say that I'm freaking out because baby's movement seems to have decreased so much that I'm on the verge of panicking. Not suddenly--it seems like it's been decreasing for about four weeks now (I'm 36 weeks.) I still feel lots of movement, but it's more gentle, more subtle. When I do kick counts, I count a lot of movement, but it's just so much less vigorous than it used to be. It used to be SO vigorous. Is ANYONE experiencing this too???

I am terrified of going to the hospital to verify that the baby is fine, for fear that they'll "find" something wrong that supposedly warrants an emergency c-section or induction or something.

Anyway, yours sounds glorious, enjoy it.

Let me also add that mine also switches, seemingly, from LOA to ROA to straight OA several times a day as well. When I lie on my side, it seems to either stay LOA or go posterior.

It must be normal- that is why mine is doing too. It seems like the movments have not gotten any slower just more painful or more pressure. And I have high belly days and then the baby drops way low and my cervix hurts all day. Today is a low day- I dont remember this with my DD- however she was not an active baby when I was pregnant with her- very calm, and when she dropped she dropped! This one is undecided. I was reading about the birth signs of babies, and the sign Pisces falls between February 20- March 20 and I just know this baby will be born in this sign- just by how it moves and acts. The next sign is Aries - March 21 - April 20, and that is my DD- and it is totally her, and totally what she was like when I was pregnant!

Funny! Here is the link that my mom sent me on the signs! http://www.astrology-online.com/persn.htm

The best word I have for the babe's movements now is 'rolling.' They aren't as punch-like, but they roll around in a big manner. The other word I would have is painful. It stretches me out!

I do feel like s/he is not staying in any one position... some days LOA, some days ROA, occasionally posterior for a short bit of time. As long as s/he stays vertex, I'm not going to complain too much!

I'm with ya... Rolling & stretching in a BIG way!! How is there that much room in there? Apparently there isn't & s/he is making room.... :LOL

CityGirl, what you are describing is what I keep reading is supposed to happen.

Patchfire, "rolling" is the perfect word!

I was just telling someone the other day how Logan has just never seemed to calm down in his movements! I can't believe he still has room to move! Mostly he does stay head down on my right side but sometimes diagonal andsometimes his butt in over on the top of my left side. He keeps his feet against my left side and there is a definite sore spot there he can rock himself for almost an hour at a time. Pushing his feet out and then his butt on the other side my stomach looks like there is a seesaw in there! I try to feel those little feet over on my side to see how big they are. They seem to be good sized. Especially when he gets against the inside of my ribs and slides his foot down my inside really fast WOW ! Feels like he's getting lower too, I can push at the bottom and it almost just makes me scream like a knife feeling, and when I stand up I tend to grab my belly, feels like he is falling out.! I know he won't but, wierd feeling you know!? I wonder if I'll make it to my "due date"

:LOL to rolling!

Did you ever see the movie Spaceballs? That diner scene with the alien the guy swallowed in his chili? That's about how it looks/feels lately.

Mine is actually changing several times a day between head down and transverse! I'm 35 weeks and my other 3 stayed head down by that gestation. Is anybody else's doing this?
Okay baby has changed. We are very slow now! The other day he/she was sleeping and didnt move for nearly 2 hours, I was so worried- but DH got the bugger to move. Yes, things are getting ready- I am 37 weeks so I guess the slow down has started Now it is wonderful pressure on my cervix!

What a coincidence, yesterday at my midwife appointment, I told her I was a little worried because things seem to have slowed down in there. I was especially paranoid because on Tuesday night at my Prenatal yoga class I found out that one of the mother's from the class had a still born child. I felt so sorry for her and pretty much can't think of ANYTHING WORSE. I get weepy just thinking about it. So anyway, my MW hooked me up to the fetal monitor and everything is fine. I know I should be a little more philosophical about the whole thing but it's just so scary.

Mine has finally slowed down now, too. I find this, too, mildly worrisome, because now my uterus feels firmer and everything feels...different, and I can't figure out what position the baby is in. At least it is probably a sign that baby is fattening up. :-)

Patchfire-- yes rolling & painful describes this babes movements accurately. Except when I am laying on my right side on the bed, then she kicks the crap out of the mattress :LOL

Crayon--I just read the 2 signs (Pisces & Aries) from that link. Aries seems to describe more how I feel this baby has acted, but Pisces seems more to describe the feelings I have gotten, the instinctual aspect of her personality. I wonder if she will be born on the cusp and share traits from both signs.

My baby is a little more active these days. He was always a super calm baby until now.

Last night after dinner, he was moving around a LOT and I could feel his head bulging in my crotch. It was a weird feeling! I haven't ever felt that except during labor before.

Like others mentioned, my little one mostly just stretches his legs and rolls from the left to the right.

Ok, I feel better now -- I found a foot, and it was kicking me in my right side, quite far back (so not posterior).

I think I've figured out what these little barely noticeable pulsing movements are. S/he is sucking! I had just come up with that theory when the pulsing turned into hiccups. :-)

My baby is definitely not moving as much nor are they as strong. It has stayed in the same position for weeks now and I just get some rolling movements and hands and feet. I was getting really worried too as I saw a friend the other day who recently lost her baby at 33 week. I am a bit obsessed w/ the movement right now. I stop and do kick counts a lot. MW says all is well and that when she checked the heart rate yesterday it was very responsive to different positions I was in. I always need something to worry about though!

a lot of rolling and thank god soft punching and kicking

mimim- I felt that "bulging in my crotch" feeling the other day! I was driving down the interstate and all of a sudden I was felt this feeling like right on my cervix and in my crotch and I couldn't decide if it felt good or bad- it was just really crazy feeling- I had to try really hard to pay attention to the road!

Crayon- I can't wait to see what signs the babies turn out to be! I'm due March 24 so he could very well be a cusp- I don't feel to strongly either way.
