Homebirth midwives in Phoenix?

Now that I have FINALLY been able to get my DH to reluctant agree to not stand in my way of homebirth (it's a start!) I need to find a homebirth midwife... preferably one who takes my insurance. I've been told there are a LOT in Phoenix, and maybe I'm just not searching in the right spots, but so far I've only found about 5 online (I do everything online... we don't even have a hardcopy yellow pages!).

Does anyone know anything about:
Carol Denny
Marinah Farrell
Stephanie Pennick

Or suggestions for other homebirth midwives in Phoenix? I live near Metrocenter, so it'd need to be a midwife who'll come to this side. Websites please if possible ~smiles~

TIA!

I know Sue Diselvestro will come over to Metro. When I lived in Maryvale she attended 2 of my births.

Here is a pdf of all the licensed midwives in the state: http://www.azdhs.gov/als/databases/providers_mw.pdf

Did Sue take your insurance or did you have to pay out of pocket?

A friend of mine had Carol Denny for both her kids and loved her.

I had Mary Henderson for my daughter's homebirth and give her the absolute highest recommendation! She takes insurance, but mine didn't cooperate. Grrr. Her info is on a PP's link.

Congrats and best wishes!

Sue was assisting Claudine, my midwife. Not sure if she takes insurance. I know Claudine does, but mine never paid so it was never an issue.

Sue now works with Mary Henderson, and they do accept insurance. I haven't used them, but I did interview them for possible future use and I have heard very good things about them. Can't speak for the others. Good luck in your search!

Hi! I am a midwife in Vermont, but am friends with Marinah Farrell. I would recommend her highly, after having worked together for a year in TX. You will find she is very gentle and down-to-earth, and a very smart woman. Good luck!

I chose Marinah Farrell and am SOOOOO happy I did! She was wonderful and her team was fabulous! If we were still going to be in Phoenix next time we get pregnant I'd go back to her.

My friend in Mesa had 3 homebirths with Mary Henderson and has nothing but amazing things to say about her.

That's MY GIRL!! We went to midwifery school together and she helped give my blessing way...She's Da Bomb
As a midwife I can say I have seen her in action, the woman knows her stuff- you are safe in her hands.

We used Marinah too - and if ANYONE is looking for a midwife you really should call her. My daughter was oblique/transverse with her shoulder presenting when Marinah arrived (I was 7cm). Through skill, intution and instinct, she managed to turn a baby that any doc in town would have told me would have to be born surgically. Julianna was born vaginally, with me standing next to my bed, and my husband caught her. Marinah is amazing!
