Woo Hoo Heve, nope, that's great, actually Steve and I were just saying--often when I go out with her I will put her in sposies, just cause we have them and I don't have to worry then about her pooping out a cover and only having one backup--etc, anyway, Steve asked, are you putting her in disposables for the shower and I said, "NO, after all the crap they gave me at x-mas about 'gee, we'll see how long that lasts' and 'what are you nuts???' I plan to have her only in cloth whenever she sees that side of the family!" So I think diaper poop shower would be almost poetic Currently I'm washing her cutest covers and attempting to unstain her prefolds, otherwise I'll put her in fitteds, it just seems weird to me to cover up the neat plaid fitted with a safari diaper cover.
For those who haven't used cloth before and are still deciding, I figure I'll let you know this, we have 20 newborn prefolds and a dozen newborn fitted dipes, dh moans when the prefolds are done and he has to put a fitted on her--not sure why--cause it's actually comical to watch him attempt to fasten the snappi while she's kicking him but he definitley prefers the prefolds.
Hee hee - then poetry I will deliver! I get it on Steve's preference for prefolds - the snaps are probably just too fiddly for those man hands. I'll let you know what my dh prefers...sometime in the near future...
actually my fitted's are velcro, originally he was having difficulty with the snappy, a number of years ago his left hand was run over by a transport truck when he was thrown off his bike, so his left hand doesn't really work very well at all--so he said totally no pins, he's slowly getting the hang of the snappy, I would think the fitteds would be so much easier for him with his hands, but I suppose I am wrong

Heveasoul~What I did was eat two small peices right after the birth and it was rinsed well so there was no bloody taste. I ate a few for a few days PP. I think today will be the last day (4days PP) just to make sure there is no bacterial growth since it has been in the fridge. Each day I would have about 2-3 peices. You can't overdo it though. You can just do it one time or as many as you want. I think once you see it isn't a big deal you might want to eat a few each day too. There are so many benefits. Have some juice ready just in case whoever gets it for you doesn't rinse it well because you may taste blood. I had my MW cut up all the peices for me then put them in a Tupperware and I eat it when I think of it. Good Luck and tell me what you think!

Shannon, Have fun at the shower!

Jasmine, Congratulations!!! Welcome little Lilah.

Amber, Sending you some good labor vibes... It won't be too much longer for you mama!

I finally posted some pics...just click on the link in my signature...should have used the digital camera more.... oh well!!!

Great pictures - thanks for sharing, Elaina!

Reporting back from Shannon's shower...well, since there were so many cars in the driveway, Shannon didn't have to put on a big show, in terms of looking surprised - too bad! My sanicare bidet (poop shower) was a big hit...! Molly was a charmer, and there were many cute pink outfits given!

Think I'll go to bed early - feeling pretty pooped. My edd is tomorrow - I'll have to post a 40-week pic! My baby has been moving a lot lately - I swear I could feel it burrowing last night! I was watching Molly stretch, and was thinking - that's what my baby is trying to do! Wild to think s/he will be on the outside with us soon!

I just wanted to post our picures here too. I made a new thread to announce my son's birth, but here are the pics...... there are new ones almost daily at this point. My husband is a little bit excited.

Lovley pictures everyone! Tricia, I really like your tandem nursing pic! I have one too, but you can see a lot of nipple, so I'm not gonna post it!

Congrats to Tricia, Elaina, Marcela, Jasmine, Traci, earthmama007, and 3 little birds! Wow, it's a baby a day around here right now! I'm loving reading your stories and seeing the pictures of all your precious bundles!

Earthmama007, I just have to say that you are awesome and brave for eating the placenta. I don't think I could manage that one, especially after reading about how it could taste of blood. But wow, kudos to you!

Shannon, isn't it funny? My dh was the same way, "No prefolds!" and now he prefers them too! I think it is because it is how we started, and he doesn't have to worry about which cover (or does it need a cover?) or anything. Although I have to say, if our tax refund comes in soon, I'm majorly tempted to go to an all FB stash. I love them!

Ambam, I hope things happen for you soon!

Hazel weighed 7 pounds the day before yesterday!!! Woohoo! We actually had to return the scale, it cost $90 a month. So we went on ebay and bought a scale (it isn't quite as good, but it will measure to the nearest 10g) for $70, plus shipping. It converts to a postal scale, so it will be useful even when she outgrows it. It isn't here yet.

No news really. I'm trying to learn to knit. I hung out with my friend Allegra, who's son Hunter Cash shared a NICU room with Hazel, and she brought over some soaker patterns from the 1940's! She also showed me a crazy pattern in one of the books for a crib sheet that had a jacket knitted into the top of it with tie downs!!! We were both horrified. She knits and crochets and told me that she would teach me how, yay!

I went to a scrapbooking party today at which one woman talked about seeing a woman (gasp!) nurse a 3 year old in public! She said that she told her kids, "Okay, time to go home now." (I guess she had to spare them the sight of a boob being used as nature intended.) And another young woman with no kids of her own who was becoming a nanny for a lady with twins. She said, "I'm kind of worried though, because she spoils them so much." So I asked how old they are. Eight months! I was thinking that I'd have no one to talk to at all untill another woman came and it turned out she is a LLL leader. She and I talked about tandem nursing, and I told her I nurse my 3 year-old and she said "awsome!" <3 You should have seen woman #1's face, LOL!

Oh wow, Tricia - thanks so much for sharing those pictures! GREAT red pjs, btw - you look beautiful!!! I also loved the tandem nursing pic - I showed my hubby all of them - he really like them, too! Very cool one of the amniotic sac (that's what it's called, right?)!

Lesley - great to hear you're getting out - and that you found a more kindred soul at the scrapbooking place - hee hee

Congratulations, Marcela! Welcome Ezrz Omani! Great photos! Glad to hear the nursing is going well for you both!

Happy edd to my baby today! s/he's hit the snooze button, though!

Hmmm... must be the hormones b/c I'm now sad that I'm not tandem nursing my two girls, aftere reading your stories above. My milk completely dried up about 13 weeks, and DD weaned about 16 weeks, so she has been weaned about 5 months now, and hasn't asked to nurse. I thought she might when the baby came, but no. Oh, well. My right boob is just fine, but for some reason the left one is still really sore. It still has scabby parts on it, and it hurts SO bad when she latches on. Also, if you didn't read my birth story, you might not know, but DD was born w/ teeth!!! One is popping thru right now, and I can feel it like a little razor when she is done eating. I think that might be why I'm sore alot. I try to get her off of it as soon as she's done.

I am excited! On Wednesday I am having the girls' pictures taken, and I'm doing some nursing shots, too! It will take about 2 weeks to get them up on the internet, but the place I'm going will put them up, so I can share the link I can't wait!!! Does anyone have any good ideas for poses? I'm thinking of doing one w/ the baby nursing, and DD #1 standing w/ us?

I haven't been on in a few days, but its good to see so many new babies. Congratulations to all the new mamas, and theier families!!!

Afternoon everyone, well, the crap just never ceases to hit the fan. I am back in hospital now, last night the pain I've had in my belly for over a week somehow went from dull and constant to something that made me double over and then pass out (fortunately I set Molly down on the couch before I dropped) I was admitted last night adn put on IV antibiotics and fluids and pain meds. U/S this morning ruled out appendix or ruptured ovarian cyst. I'm being transported to a larger hospital tomorrow morning for a cat scan after which they will decide what they will do with me. You know, PPD hadn't hit all that hard, but it's here full force now

On the good news front though, Molly saw the ped my OB recomended today (he does a clinic on mondays at the hospital I'm in) and both Steve and I were REALLY impressed with him. He told us our family doc was on the ball but he thought we were poorly worked up in both emerg depts. However, she finnally had a good gain!! She weighed in at 7lbs 4oz today, after only coming in at 6-12 on Friday!!! He thinks she's a little fighter and that she was fighting off a bug coupled with the reflux and the intolerance to cows milk. He agreed to retry her on cows milk but would prefer we wait until she's 3 months old and has a good reserve built up so that if it doesn't agree with her we won't be scrambling and worried because she can't afford to loose. He was such a nice guy and it was the very first time that Molly has ever been examined by a doctor and didn't cry even once--even though she was stripped down adn she hates being stripped down. He was so gentle with her and did his exam cradling her in his arms instead of her laying on the bed, she just kept staring at his stethescope. He said she acts more like a 6 week old baby, she really focusses in on his face, he felt usually at her age they will focus on a family member but not a stranger.
Anyway, here I sit--the pathetic part--I'm in the same damn room I was in for all that time before and after she was born!

It looks like my friend didn't get to post info for me...

Oscar Tomas born 2/11 at 6 lbs 12 oz about 1 hour after I got to the hosp. Will post birth story later.
Congratulations Gretchen! Welcome baby Oscar!!

Shannon!! You poor thing!! I am so sorry this is happening to you!! Is Molly with you? Will she be able to go with you while your transfered? I hope all is well and everything is okay for you!! Good luck!!
Molly is with me, so is Steve, fortunately we have nobody boarding this week until Thursday night and we've shipped our 2 dogs off one to my parents, the other to my assisstant. She won't go with me for the transfer, for a couple of reasons, first, she was already sick this week and I don't want to expose her to any new bugs, second, because I am allergic to shellfish, the radioactive dye they give causes some nasty hives to me and potentially and anaphalactic reaction so they will have me on a benadryl and atropine drip to stop any side effects before they start, but the tradeoff is I'll be pretty out of it. Also they will be transfering me by ambulance with one of the OB nurses, so there won't be any room in the ambulance.
On the bright side though, I feel like an anvil has been lifted from my shoulders because Mollys doing SO much better and I REALLY, REALLY love this pediatrician I saw today. He was thorough and honest but not in a way to make you really worry, that and you just can't argue with a doctor who is kind enough to examine a 4 week old baby either in her mom's arms or in his--actually, mostly in his, but I just felt so comfortable with him and Molly was so very content in his arms that I just didn't feel the need to hold her at that moment.

Anyway, demerol is kicking in and Molly is asleep so I figure I should join her when the pain is at it's least

Gretchen, big congrats on baby Oscar!! I'm quite certain there are others I forgot to congratulate this week due to stress, pain and now some nifty drugs
post #117 of 127
omg, Shannon!! Well, I am certainly happy for you about Molly's weight gain and the experience with the new ped, but ouch for you! I won't call you - sounds like you should be resting, and getting pretty high... take care, and I hope the scan helps. Hang in there. Get a big hug from Steve for me, and cuddles with Molly.

Welcome, Oscar Tomas!!

Thanks for the good vibes, Tricia. Dh was asking baby today what his/her plans are..."I don't know, daddy!" It will be fun to meet this little babe in person, and find out if it's a boy or a girl...!

Well I am 41 weeks today! I really did not expect to still be pregnant!! I had an appointment with my mw this am and all is well. She isn't concerned at all. My babies just like it a lot in there!! I've gone over with all of them now so from now on I am just lying about my due date by a week or two!!(to myself and everyone else!!) The baby is still high but I've been having tons of braxtin hicks. Sometimes enough to make me think they are real. But it never is, it just goes away. I hope that this is the week. I really don't expect to make it to 42 weeks so we'll see!! I am really hoping for sometime this week!! I am really ready to meet this little one!!

Hi all.
I'm enjoying my babymoon very much, but haven't been able to get online much (for obvious reasons)

PP mamas...are any of you having severe uterus contractions when you nurse? This is my 3rd baby and I wasn't prepared for this much pain after giving birth. I know the nipple stimulation is making my uterus contract and shrink, but OMG I feel like I'm in labor still when I nurse Autumn. I'm taking 800 mg of Motrin every 8 hours, but it's only skimming the surface of the pain. My milk came in yesterday and my breasts are so incredibly huge and sore that they don't even fit into the largest Bravado bra Ouchie! I'm feeling really sore and down today...can I have some cheese with my whine? Oh and is anyone else's babe a night time party animal? I haven't slept since last Wednesday night Ok pity party over.

OUCHIE!! My daughter was born on Thursday morning and I'm still taking Advil for the pain. I'm not bleeding a whole lot so I have no idea why these after pains are so bad. I think I need to get a chiro adjustment or something.
Sorry about the engorgement. I made my mom's special sweet for bringing in milk without engorgement and I seem to have escaped it. But maybe I'm not the type to get engorged since I've never had that problem with any of my three. I was tandem nursing last time as well as this time so that may have something to do with it. I hope it goes away soon.
