Peri- Glad to see you back! Congratulations! Wanna hear something funny? The last post you wrote was that you thought you'd be the next Mama since you were going in for your c-section in the morning. I responded and the last thing I wrote before I went into labor (literally just hours later) was, "Does anyone else feel like they aren't going into labor anytime soon?". :LOL My little guy arrived at 7:37am on 2/9...so I think a few hours before your little guy.

Anyway, hang in there with the milk supply issues. It sounds like you are doing everything right!

Shannon- I'm sorry the news at the ped's wasn't good. What was the feedback they gave you about her weight?

Tricia- Definitely complain anytime you need to. I think it sounds like you are going to go into labor at any minute, if you ask me. I always get totally stressed and overwhelmed right before I go into labor.

shyly- Well it seems like you are just very well-prepared! I hope things really kick into gear for you now! I'm sure you're going nuts just waiting. Enjoy your bubble bath!

We're doing well here. DS #1 is having a few jealousy issues, but nothing major yet. I am so glad he's still nursing because that really helps when he needs some Mommy-Time. He just gets this sad little look in his eye and I know he needs to "duddle" (cuddle- ie. nurse!). It has also helped a bit with my engorgement!

Ever since I've gotten home from my doctor's appointment I've been getting pretty regular contractions and there has been blood on the TP. She stripped my membranes today (ouchie!) and it feels like it's doing something to me! I'm not getting my hopes up yet, but this is progress for me....usually doing that does nothing *fingers crossed*
post #43 of 127
Hello all, well, we just spent 5 hours in the emergency room and the doctor thinks she has the very beginnings of RSV, chest and abdominal x-rays are clear, blood work for the most part is normal but some of her electrolytes are out of wack. He measured her and she is growing in length (I was beginning to think I was nuts that she was getting bigger) and he said often young babies will grow in length and not gain weight when they are trying to fight something off. We won't get the results from the RSV swab until tomorrow afternoon but in the meantime, he wants me to wake her every hour and feed her only one ounce in hopes of her keeping it down. Her temp at the hospital was 37.9 in her ear which apparently is fairly high and is the reason he is pretty sure the RSV swab will come back positive. She was so good for the blood work and the x-rays. They had to repeat the blood work twice cause they got weird results back the first time, so she had 2 heel sticks and a blood draw on her arm
Anyway, it's 10:30 here and I realized at 8:00 I hadn't eaten yet today, so I need to make myself a bacon and tomatoe sandwich on very fresh bread (can you tell I stopped eating bacon while pregnant--now it's comfort food)
Thanks for the hugs, keep thinking good thoughts for my little girl, she needs them.

And Tricia--I agree, you never complain, so vent away girl!!
Peri, any chance you could get breast milk from Leslie since I can't get it across the border??

Oh Shannon, I'm so sorry that Molly is sick! RSV is probably one of my biggest fears right now! We're getting the synagis shot since Hazel is at risk. I hope poor little Molly girl feels better soon.

Peri, if you need any milk, you're welcome to it! Let me know.
Oh Shannon! I am sorry about Molly!! We've had a lot of RSV around here. My friend was in the hospital for a week with her 5 week old baby. I do hope the results come back negative. If not I hope she gets well soon. This will all be over soon for you!! Poor babe!! I will be thinking of the two of you!

As for me... it is 3am here and I am wide awake! It is very annoying. I don't have heart burn and I didn't take a nap yesterday so I was exhausted when I went to bed. I thought for sure I would sleep well. Then I woke up around 1:30 for my first trip to the bathroom and then my brain wouldn't turn off!! DH is building contractor and I do all the books for the business and I am having some small issues (financial) right now, and that's all I can think about. It really pisses me off!! I hate that I get so consumed with it. It is stressful sometimes and now happens to be one of them and quite frankly, I am NOT in the mood. I just don't want to deal with it!! Anyway... there is my sob story for the night!!

That... and I feel like I might just be pregnant for the rest of my life!! I know all babies come out eventually...I am just ready NOW!! : You'd think I'd be used to it by now... with two boys who were both slow getting here. Doesn't it just seem like everyday past your "due date" seems like a year??
Plus... I get rounds of really good regular contractions for an hour or two at a time, then they stop!! GRRR!! Anyway, enough whining out of me!! Sorry for the big vent...

Morning everyone (it's morning right???) We had an alright night if you leave out the fact taht we had no sleep. The one ounce per hour seems to be working and she only puked the entire lot up twice. Her temp this morning is pretty good, 37.1 as opposed to close to 37.9 last night at the hospital. Her little nose however is back to being severely stuffed--last night when the doctor did the rsv swab, he pulled out this humongous nasty green booger (they go in pretty deep for that swab!!) and she was breathing so much better afterwards, but it appears the boogers have decided to take up residence once again--they're way to deep for us to reach even with the aspirator though.
I'm so beat it's not even funny. Dh is picking up our daycare dogs now, then he wants me to take a sleeping pill and he will take over Molly for the day (now if I could just let go of that control....)

So, how is everyone?? I figure someone is having a baby today--who will it be???

Amber: I know all about insomnia due to not being able to turn your brain off. If it wasn't finanial it was projects for me during December and Jan. And about going past your due date... Chloe was only 2 days late, but it did seem soooo long because you no longer have a count down. Hang in there it will happen. Is there anything you can do that will keep you busy at this point and your mind off of the PG for a bit? With my frist PG, we went shopping and tried to fill our days, especially those after the due date. I'll be thinking of you. You can do this!!!

I feel a lot better this morning. Chloe is still asleep, so I'm going to get some of the cleaning done so I can get ahead of her. My mom called a little while ago and missed her first plane and will have to get on the next one, but it will only delay her arrival by a couple hours. She was so upset though. I just told her it could be lots worse and this doesn't mess up anything. I can't wait to see her. She should be getting her around 7pm. She's flying into LA and then driving up here with Bobbi.

I may go to the LLL meeting today. I missed it last month due to our tax appointment so I really want to go. I love going. I've been attending since Chloe was 2 months old and have made great friends in our small group.

Well, I better go for now. Thanks for all the encouragement yesterday. You ladies are great!!!! Take care!!!

Love, Tricia

Shannon: We crossed posted so I just wanted to give you a big Those "up all night with sick little ones" are so hard. Good for Steve for stepping up to the plate! Take him up on it and get some rest!!! Poor little Molly! Can't wait to hear that she is all better!!!!

Big (((HUGS))) to Shannon and Molly. Hope you two are doing better this a.m.

AmBam -- I could relate to your post on many levels! My dh and I run a home-based business and it's been consuming me lately! (Not to mention that we just found out last week we're getting AUDITED from 2002!!) It's been one stressful thing after another (business-related) and I was feeling VERY resentful that it was taking the focus off me, baby, and our birthing experience. I feel a bit better today and I hope that you, too, find some peace. I'm not technically "due" until Saturday, though I thought baby would be here by now. Here's my mantra: I await my baby's arrival humbly, patiently, and respectfully. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Shannon: I'm so sorry Molly is sick You need a break girl. I hope you can get some much needed rest today.

Kate: I didn't think they could audit you from so many years back! That sucks!!!

AmBam: Here's a I hate the insomnia at 3am too. It seems to hit me each and every night around that time and it's very annoying. I can't shut off my brain lately either. I feel your pain.

I'm still contracting pretty regularly and still seeing some bloody show. Maybe this baby will actually come out naturally this week. Hoping and praying!

Well, I've taken the sleeping pill, Steve is feeding Molly and then she and I will hit the sack, he says he'll come in hourly and get her to feed and change her.
Btw, she has a HORRIBLE diaper rash, the skin turned very yellowish yesterday and today it's all hard and cracked, we're alternating between Baby Bottem Better and Weleda Diaper care and changing her hourly after she eats, but it's looking worse instead of better. Any tips???? Last night and today I've left her cover off and just had her in a loose fitting prefold and trying to keep her bum over a chuks pad. Does it just need some time??

I have to give a shout out to my latest purchase: The MINI SHOWER! Oh my gosh is this thing awesome! My hubby hooked it up for me 2 nights ago because I intend to use it to help with cleansing my sore bottom after I give birth and I also have used it in the last 2 days to rinse of nasty cloth diapers in the toilet. It's so freakin cool! I know some of you mamas mentioned wanting to get one of these. Do it! It rocks!

Shannon, big big hugs to you , dh and Molly. I am hoping that she is on the road to recovery really soon. I was just thinking about her today, as I was trying to clean the dust monsters out from under my bed, remebering when you were trying to figure out if her stuffyness was dust / feather bed related.
There has been loads of RSV here too. Dd had it, and the only thing that cleared up her cough was lungwort. It is so horrible when they are sick, try to get lots of rest. Glad you took that sleeping tablet, so now relinquish all control over to Steve!!
As far as the diaper rash, the same thing happened with dd when she was a newborn too. We went to her 1 wk check up at the Dr.s and the Dr. advised us to put on the zinc cream like you are frosting a cake at each change, and to use disposables. Her rash cleared up pretty quickly after that, oh and we aired her out lots too.

Kate and Amber, really sorry that you are both stressed out with business related stuff. Hope it passes quickly and you get to concentrate on the final stages of pregnancy.

Traci, wow, got some progress going on there girl! Stripping the membranes is kind of painful isn't it?
Hope you get to go naturally before the clock runs out !!!

Tricia, glad that you are feeling better today. I would be stressed too if I had people coming into town. Just would want everything just so, clean etc.
You will have a great time with you Mum and bobbi there with you.
I wish my Mum and Dad could be here with me right now. It is really hard them being so far away, never seeing me pregnant either. Hopefully they will be able to get here soon though.

Ok, well I am really hoping the baby will come today. Don't know why, just really do. I feel great, just am ready RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
Kate, I think I need to borrow your mantra.
I have to go for an NST and an u/s on Friday. I will be 1 week overdue, so they want to check that all is ok.

Ok, will check in later Jasmine

Hi everyone,
Just checking in to say that I'm thinking of you.

Shannon, hope you've gotten some sleep and that Molly is well soon.
Tricia, enjoy your company! I'm glad your baby waited until they came, and I hope your husband's test went well yesterday.

We are back to trying to agree on a boy's name! We had one, but now feel a need for another... whatever!! I'm fine with the one we picked...we'll see.

Be well. susan

Hi everyone. I'm still here and still pregnant. I'm really tired and I'm going to try and take a nap in a few, but figured I'd drop by here and say hi. Last night was pretty rough and I thought that things were going to progress, but they have slowed down again. I was getting hit with strong contractions every 3-5 minutes and each one was lasting between 1-2 minutes. I got into the shower and tried that for a while...I tried to wake DH up but he wouldn't budge so I did it alone. I ended up just sitting in front of the tv on my ball until about 4 am and then tried to move to the couch. As long as I stayed on my ball I would have mild or no contractions...but man if I so much as moved, I was hit hard. I finally fell asleep between 4 and 5, but kept waking up with each contraction. I moved to the bed around 6 and got some okay sleep until around 9:30. I've been up since. Just trying to keep moving and keeping my mind off of things. I'm really tired.

Just checking in. I got back from ym meeting with my principal today. Sure enough, she fired me. I still have to finish the school year, which bites, but oh well. I'm probably better off not being there.

Just got back from LLL meeting. I'm so glad I was able to go! I met a couple of really cool new people to our group. The topic today was "The arrival of the new baby" How appropriate! It was fun and insightful! I got to see my friends that I only see once a month at those meetings. I would encourage all you moms (especially the new mamas) to go to LLL meetings in your area. It's not just for moms that have problems nursing. I've met the greatest people there. Moms that are really in to their kids. It really is nice to meet like minded moms.

Monica: It will be over soon and you will be holding your little baby in your arms. Try to rest and take care of yourself.

Lousli: It was meant to be. Maybe this is just a push into a different direction for you that will be even more benificial to you and your family in the long run. It does suck that you have to go back for just a short time.

Mainemom: DH feels like he did really well on the test. We won't find out for a while (I think June) but at least it's over with.

Traci: Good luck to you! Keep us updated!

So, who is next? : At this point it could be so many of us who are waiting. Have you seen the list. There are a lot more blues popping up than the pink. Interesting!
: Lousli, sorry you were fired. At least you were planning on quitting!

Traci, Hope this is it for you. That's how this last labor started. I was checked in the AM, and had contractions all day and night. I had a baby about 24 hours later!!!

Well, we are doing well. Lainas cord fell off this morning, but there is a pencil sized hole /raw area that the skin has not grown over. I called the ped, and they said to just put alcohol on it, and if it seemed like it was hurting her to come on in. SHe seems okay now, but the site is still really sore, and I've still got her in kissaluvs coverless b/c the covers all rub the area. (see my post in diapering). Both girls are asleep, so I'm gonna try to cathc a nap, too.
shyly- Good idea to rest! You need to save up as much energy as possible for the birth.

Lousli- I'm sorry to hear about you being fired- but like others said you were planning on quitting. I'm sure it's a drag to have to finish the school year, though.

Mama2Chloe- I tried to access your site, but it keeps telling me the password is incorrect? I agree with you about LLL. What a great organization! I've met so many great people there too.

Traci- Hope things get started soon for you!
