March Mamas: February 14 - 20 - Page 3

Midwife came yesterday (I am 37 weeks today!) and remarked how happy she is that I didn't feel the need to spotless clean before she got there!! :LOL (I was apologizing while I kicked toys out of the way in my bedroom)

She doesn't do internal exams until labor, so I have no idea if I am dilated.... I was dilated "0" 24 hours before I had dd last time, so I don't think it matters much with me.

I am not sleeping (maybe because I am sooooo lazy & haven't even begun to nest (except the baby clothes are all clean, diapers are clean, and closets & unnecessary stuff are organized) but my house is DIRTY! not even just messy. dirty. It's horrible!
Dd is waaaayyy too helpful to get anything done! She is very clingy right now & wants to be attached to my side (normally very independent) Dog too...
Maybe I'm not sleeping because I have the same fear as Crayon... or was it patchfire? I have lost my memory!!! Whoever had a very long labor & is dreading that part of it! I am not looking forward to 72+ hours of labor & 4 1/2 hours pushing... I don't think I can do it this time! Not like that! I was tired. Needed sleep.

And I am not sure about dd being there for the birth. A friend offered to come take her to her house, but I am NOT ok with her leaving. I just want her to have someone there if she wants to leave the room. Ya know? So I am concerned about that.

I hope things go well for you, MTM. I will be thinking of you & look forward to a very positive birth experience story from you!

Good luck MTM!!!

I have not updated in quite some time... I am almost 38 weeks. The OB has me taking Evening Primrose Oil twice a day - I am hoping it is doing something. I have been having braxton hicks contractions and cervical pain/pressure. The OB wants to check me at my appt on Tuesday and I am just curious enough to let him.

I still need to wash all of the baby clothes and diapers and make food to freeze. So much to do and I feel I am quickly running out of time....

Good luck, MTM, hope all goes well for you.

I guess I don't manifest nesting in quite the same way as most mamas. My version is stockpiling huge amounts of food in the cupboards! And I'm still finishing a few projects; baby blanket, DS's sweater, baby hat...and the biggie I haven't even touched on is putting photos in albums from the past 3 yrs because I know we'll be swamped again once this one comes along.

Can't believe you all know how dilated you all are! My mw's don't do any internal exams, and not even in labour unless they feel a real need. I'm actually enjoying being left well alone, and I know in labour the exams slowed me down and made me sooo uncomfortable. And once I was on my back it was so hard to get off.

Yesterday I did a "trial run" of what I'll likely be doing a lot of a few weeks from now; big huge walk in the woods with lots of hillwalking, followed by fantastic spicy Indian food. Yum. that's exactly what got it all going for me last time.

Anyone know when full moon is? I expect a few babies around then. I'm guessing I'll be 5 days or so past when it's full, though that would actually be early for me. Not sure why exactly...

Ok, so you've all inspired me to go clean. And do the trial run for the pool. Who else has the inflatable fishy pool? Be nice to hear other epople's experiences with it.

Hello March Mamas!

I'm so excited to hear all of talk about your upcoming plans and impending labors. I'm new to this forum and due 03/21 and this is the first group of women I've talked with supportively who are also nearing labor & birth.

We're planning a homebirth and today I'm 35.5 wks. I'm also taking Primrose oil and Rasp Tea. Since this is my first, I'm hoping I don't go too over my due date. I'm working FT as an L&D RN right now and I'd really rather deliver closer to 37 weeks, if my baby is ready, because each shift gets harder and harder on the ole body.

How much Primrose oil are all of you taking orally? I'm doing 1500mg daily, but thinking of shifting it up to 2500mg daily after 37 weeks. I've heard anywhere from 3-6 capsules daily is okay (500 mg each capsule). What do you think?

Thanks,
Catherine

Muse, I have the inflatable fishy pool & used one last time! We labored in the pool, then had to use the birth stool (not my favorite contraption & I hope to avoid it this time)... I had no idea how great the pool was until I got out! The pool is wonderful! Cushy bottom, cushy sides, lots of room to switch positions, good stuff!! And luckily my midwife doesn't do any internal exams unless you ask or are in labor... Then it's jsut to check the first time. I do remember telling her to "get out of there! I am all done with you being in there!" when I was having dd... I made her show me her hands... Turns out she wasn't in there! :LOL

Welcome to the group Cmildenb, it must be a shocker for the people you work with for you to have a homebirth!!! My only concern with the excess primrose oil is that Vit E is supposed to adhere the placenta to the wall of the uterus... I have no idea if primrose does anything like that... I know primrose is great, just not the amounts...

I am so excited!! Can't wait to hear some birth stories, but not until the little pumpkins are ready!!! I am so happy for MTM that you were able to get this far with Pre-e! You are doing great!!! I hope it goes so smoothly for you!!

I am hoping to go at least another week! I don't think this baby is ready yet! SOOO much better for him/her to wait!! (Although I am sick of having one pair of pants & one skirt I can wear... My hands are swollen (had to remove my rings yesterday) and I am so tired! Heartburn is keeping me up (literally, I am sleeping at about a 45 degree angle!), you know all the gripes!)

I am taking 1500mg but I was thinking of increasing too. I am 38wk+3days
I drink lots of RRL tea as well

Best wishes, MTM! Ooh, a baby soon!

We had a showing this morning, and an open house tomorrow, so the house is clean. Unfortunately, there's dirty laundry hiding in the van. But it's not so bad, just a load or two! I'm now very motivated to keep things clean for the baby, especially the master suite. I found myself saying, "I'd like to vacuum again tomorrow before and after the open house" to my husband, and he looked at me like I was nuts. Nesty nesty!

My prelabor contractions are getting stronger. No pain, just very tight. I also have groin pain (I have no other way to describe it) when I stand up or move my legs the wrong way. I predict that the baby will come tomorrow, as my husband will be out of town all day.

Hope all is well w/ you MTM. I was induced w/ ds for the same reason. This time I seem to be ok so far, so hoping to go at it on my own.
We had our first home visit w/ the midwives yesterday. It was the first time to meet the second midwife and I just love her. I think they are a great team. My bp is still doing pretty well and my swelling is very minimal so I am very happy about that. AT this point w/ ds my bp was much higher and I had more swelling.
I want to get a good nights sleep sooooooo bad. I was doing great last night and for some reason ds put dh in bed w/ me and he got into ds's bed! Aaarrrgghhh! He kicked and wiggled all night. So much for sleep last night.
Today our cabinets are being installed and dh and his dad are doing ductwork etc. By tomorrow I should be able to put everything away in my kitchen. I can't wait. Right now I spend a lot of time in my bedroom where it is peaceful and organized. The midwives said that the chaos in my house is really affecting me and keep me from going into labor. It makes sense that the stress and lack of feeling settled could stall things. I have a few weeks to go, so it isn't a major factor right now. It will just feel so good to get a bit more organized. I have all of the baby things washed and put away in their proper places. It makes me feel so good.
I have the fishy pool too. WE have not done a trial run yet and need to do that after Sunday. I got the adaptor for the faucet yesterday and am ready to try it out.

Oh wow, MTM!! That's so exciting. Good luck...and let us know!

My kitchen cabinets are being levelled right now. The counter people can't come back to measure until Thursday, though. I figure that I'll go into labor whenever the installation is scheduled. The chaos is definately effecting me! DH, who is normally very neat, has been something of a slob lately (it couldn't just be my perception of him, right?).

Weird that at least three of us are redoing our kitchens right now, isn't it?

How are you feeling STG?
I have that crotch pain too. Mine is killer at night when I try to roll over too *ouchies* Its only on one side/lip tho, the sciatic nerve is working overtime on me this pregnancy.
That is funny that three of us are doing kitchens. The cabinet guy will finish up today so I can put things away. I think they will measure for counters later in the week. My fil is going to put down plywood and install a temporary sink for us. I am go glad he can do that as it will be weeks before we get the permanent set up.
I finally got a good nights sleep and feel so much better. I hope I can keep this up. Nothing like being tired, anxious, and very grumpy, lol.

Hi March mammas!

I am introducing myself very late in the game, although I have been following this board since the beginning. I have 2 dds aged 4 1/2 and almost 3 yrs and I'm due with #3 on March 1st.

I have been nesting for a while now, which I never did with my other two. I have almost all the diapers and baby clothes washed and ready, but I'm waiting for my dh to finish staining the dresser foe me to put them in. The room I plan to labor in has been painted, (couldn't stand the color before), and dh has fixed up bamboo shades around our hot tub so that I will have some privacy and shelter in my very own birth-cave .

I am so convinced that this baby will not be coming real soon that I have planned my dd2's party on my due date! I guess it will keep me focussed on something other than 'when is the baby coming'

I'm looking forward to hearing about our first March birth, but I don't think it will be me even with a March 1st EDD.
