Two parts of this. First, I am newly on Celexa- two days. Its making me really tired, spacy, and queasy. I can't eat much or sleep well and my dr. says it will last a few weeks. Second, Friday my anxiety and depression hit big time after being in remission for 3 years. I had vivid visions of hurting people- including my kids. They just played out of nowhere- not imagination, nor hallucinations. Just like a 3D movie. Things like ripping out spines, crushing skulls, throwing people against the wall.... I shake them off and move on but they play again and again. When I'm driving, its picturing crashing into a car in the opposing traffic. I actually did crash my car this past October but not on purpose. But I know how that feels to be T-boned.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

From what I understand, a very small subset of people can have severe reactions to SSRIs. It sounds as if that might be what is happening to you. Please call your doctor ASAP! This is not at all the normal, minor sort of side effects that many people experience.

Jennie, did you call your doc today and ask for samples of another med until you get your insurance? I hope you are feeling better.
sRemember I'm here whenever you need to talk, no matter what time it is...I mean that.

I've been on Celexa for almost three years. My physical effects of starting it lasted about three days. I was shaky and felt like my body was hyper on its own. Sleep for those days was horrible. After those days, my body adjusted and I felt fine.
I'm on 20 mg per day and found that I do better if I take it at lunchtime rather than in the morning or at bedtime. I get an energy boost from it about 3-4 hours later and love having that in the afternoon.
If you don't feel comfortable after a few days, you may want to change medication.
As for your vivid visions, I'd probably look into getting additional help for those. Are you on Celexa because of those?
Shannon

Yes- they put me on Celexa because of the visions, not the other way around.
I went to judo last night. My brain was SOOOO foggy but I did manage to keep up with things physically and that was really neat. Did a few throws really well- so brain isn't gone, just wired weird right now. I also had a weird thing happen this morning- might be hallucinations. Stars or something... I couldn't really wake up or fall asleep- just laid there in this weird "place" and tried to get out. Brain was numb or something. Still is.

how are you doing? I know that whenever my doc wanted me to try a new med or start anything even if I've had it before, I could never tolerate the initial dose they wanted me to take. I requested to lower my dosage and it helped a lot. Once the side effects improved, I was able to very slowly increase it up to the point where my thoughts normalized.
Those bad thoughts suck, I know. I do. I take them and freeze them in a photo frame and then smash them with an imaginary hammer, or if they are really bad I use imaginary TNT! :LOL Sounds silly but it helps.

:LOLGood idea for the imaginary TNT. I have had SUCH vivid dreams on this stuff too! I sometimes remember them and have to think "Was that real or not?"
Thanks again.

I've never taken Celexa, but I used to take Prozac (20 to 60 mg/day) and had horrible nightmares that made me afraid to sleep. I'd drink coffee and take caffeine pills so I could stay up all night and not have to see the horrible visions. Nightmares like these are a side effect listed in the drug company literature. I've read other books that say thoughts of violence and suicide while awake are another side effect.

Now how could a side effect be thoughts of violence and suicide when those were the reasons I was put ON it to begin with?
I still seem to go into really happy mode too. Its okay when it happens but I do tend to go spending money. Like we were at the mall yesterday and I got my hair cut and styled differently. I like it, but man... me and my visa and these happy streaks! (Beats the beep outta the other tho!)
