Quick question regarding travel

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a business trip. I'll be gone for 2 nights. DD is 18 months old and nursing twice a day - morning and night.

Is it worth it to bring the pump?

Yeah, I'd bring it if you want to keep nursing when you return.

Absolutely. It can become quite painful. Use hotel ice buckets if you want to bring the milk home and you dont have access to a fridge.

I agree! I brought the pump until dd was over 2.5, and down to a very small amount of actual milk. I pumped 2X per day -- really needed to in order to go to sleep at night. But at 18 months I don't remember if I was still transporting the milk home. Now I don't bring a pump...

Good luck!

Another yes vote. Pump when he'd be nursing.

OK this is depressing. I'm away from my baby, I just pumped, and I got 1/2 ounce. I know it's been a long time since I have pumped... but I think that's really all I had in there. 1/2 ounce. Nursing twice a day, my daughter is probably just getting a shot glass of milk from me every day.

God, is this worth it? How can she be getting any benefit from 1 ounce of milk a day?

What kind of pump do you have? No pump is as efficient as the baby, especially the manual ones, and if you're stressed and traveling to boot you could just be having a problem letting down. Anyway the important thing is you're stimulating the hormones (even a little) so your body doesn't "forget" whilst you're away

She's benefitting. I'm willing to bet she's getting more than an ounce, and she's getting lots of comfort and mommy love too

Yeah, they get out more than a pump does. And if they get sick, they'll want to nurse all the time which will bump up your supply and they'll get well sooner thanks to the immune system boosters in your milk.
