We were at the hospital visiting friends and their newborn twins. The twins are in the nursery b/c of delivery decisions the mom made....another sad story in itself......and while we were back there we saw the "Olympic Circumstraint" to one side.
I have talked to DH about not circ'ing and he agrees, but was never very passionate about it. More of a "this is what she wants and it makes sense, so I agree" kind of viewpoint. Anyway, I pointed it out to him and told him what I had read about how circ's were done and how many were done with no anesthesia and so on. I think that was when it really hit home what happened to little boys. He grimaced and got such a sad look on his face.
I then reminded him of how gentle our boy's entrance into the world would be and how our son would never face such a horrid experience. We both left feeling sad for the boys that would be strapped into the restraint and yet so relieved that we would never let our son touch such a device.
Thanks MDC for bringing such an important topic to my attention and for doing such a great job educating and empowering us to make a gentle and informed decision about giving our son the best treatment possible! You all are awesome!
