I need a midwife in IL

Hello! DS was born at home with a CPM, #2 was going to be but we are moving to IL....I am just 8months pregnant and can't find a CPM in IL...probably because it is illegal:

Really need everyone's help in finding a care provider, preferably a direct entry vs a nurse midwife. Unless she has a great reccomendation.

Thanks so much!

JoGoLemon,
Best wishes to you in this busy time. We never ended up moving to IL. (for a variety of reasons) From what I remember (as this post is from 2001) lay midwifes are extremely difficult to find in IL. i'm not sure what Missouri is like but you may want to look there too. Again best wishes, Aloe

There are indeed midwives of every sort in Illinois, though some of them practice more quietly than others. I practiced as a homebirth midwife in Illinois for almost 20 years -- if you would like me to forward your information to the Illinois Midwives yahoogroups list, please let me know.
