Postpartum depression has lifted!!!!

Hello,

I just thought I would share my experience here. I had my baby in June. The birth did not go at all as planned and we ended up at the hospital (from a planned home, water birth) with just about every intervention save a C- Section.

So I have been pretty depressed. Cora turned 8 months today. About 2 weeks ago I decided to go totally off sugar. It was really hard at first -- I really like my sweets. But I was desperate for anything that might help me feel better.

It was amazing. After 2 days I felt like a totally different person. I felt like myself again. I don't really know if there is a connection between sugar and depression. But for me, this really was the key.

I am a big fan of Ben and Jerry's. So I doubt I will keep this up forever. But I will slowly ease sugar (in more natural forms) back into my diet and see what happens.

Has anyone else had this experience?

SO glad to hear that your PPD has lifted! Congrats on finding the key to your problem--if cutting out the refined sugars helps you, then more power to ya!

You could be on to something

While staying w/my sister for a couple months last summer, I changed my eating habits. Everyone in their household was no/low carbing it. So I joined in. I battle dizzy spells and anxiety/panic attacks. Well, they've come back w/a vengence and I've been going over the past few years and deciding when I felt the best. At my sister's. I could go to the park for hours w/o feeling like I'm going to pass out or experiencing sweaty palms. Low carb=low sugar. Pass it on! Might help, won't hurt.
