Could one of you crafty mommas tell me what kind of dyes I should use to dye an Aristocrat?? I am buying a new one(second hand) and the seller said it would look great dyed in a different color. The only dye I even know about is Rit dye And I am also interested in trying to dye some old white prefolds... Any ideas?? Thanks!

for the 'crat you could use kool-aid

for the prefolds you could use rit but i personally prefer dylon cold water dies.. much more staying power and vibrancy

Please step away from the RIT! :LOL

Use Kool-Aid or Jello. Or if you want really bright vibrant colors, check out the dyes at www.dharmatrading.com You can also get a tie-dye kit at a craft store. I bought one like this (http://www.misterart.com/store/view/...ie-Dye-Kit.htm) and it worked really nicely.

I second this! I read on a diaper fabric site that Rit works great on FOE so I tried it. It dyed nicely- black everywhere except for the very edge which ended up light brown and gave it a nice striped look. BUT whenever ds soaked through everything and the FOE got wet it bled onto the onesie, diaper, etc. : It did wash out, but I won't dye FOE with Rit again- I don't want to take the chance that sometime it won't wash out.

Another dye-er that I know from the virtual world(no, not the one in my head ) made a comment once about thinking of starting a support group for those suffering from RIT related trauma! Just say No

If we can save at least one dye-er, we've done our job.
