Awwww, sorry to hear that, Amber. I've heard that babies do come out eventually. Hang in there...

No news over here...I'm getting the watched pot phone calls. As if, if we've already had our hellos and how are yous, that it's neccessary to ask me if everything is normal, and if there is any news...! My dh is out of town today (only an hour and a half drive away - he'll come back presto pronto if I go into labour), and MIL was saying, in a worried tone, that she wishes she could be with me, holding my hand. Like I want a fretting MIL over here, holding my hand...She did bring the dog, though. We have a kind of shared custody arrangement (long story). She and I will go for a walk.
hevea - the dog is adorable. hope you have a nice walk!

amber - i'm sorry things slowed down again. eventually, though, it will pick up for real!

mia has rsv so we are in minor panic mode. james has it too but evidently it's not dangerous for toddlers. so i'm home with sleeping james and michael is at doctor's and then hospital with mia for blood gas tests and chest x-rays. i have been really scared of this and it's going around james's daycare (big thanks to all those parents who dose up their sick kids with something to bring down the fever and then send them to daycare with everybody else ). hopefully, there will be something they can do for her ...

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a long while since I really posted. We've been settling in. I've been so tired! Chloe, Sofia, and i have been taking 3 hour + naps everyday. Sofia nurses a lot during the night and then makes squeaky noises the rest of the night ensuring that I only get a few (or less)hours sleep at a time. She hardly ever cries though so I know I am blessed! I do live for our afternoon naps.

A couple days ago, Sofia started to have yellow, green discharge from her left eye. I've been squirting breastmilk in it but it's still there. I called the pediatrician this morning and he said that it is most likely a plugged duct but because of the discharge he set me up with an appointment at the opptomitry clinic this afternoon to make sure that there is no infection. I feel better getting it checked out.

It has really been a juggling act for the past week between little Sofia and giving Chloe her much needed attention. The girls are both angels, but it does take up most of my time.

Wishing Christine and Amber gentle, fast, and empowering labor vibes. Hope to hear something soon from you both! I have been keeping up with the posts even though I don't always have another arm to type a reply (tandem nursing a lot) If I only had one more arm!! :LOL Take care!

Still here-still pregnant... altho my mw and I were talking and remembered that I didn't feel movement until 3 or 4 weeks later than I should have... I remember it made me really nervous but we always heard a heartbeat so it wasn't that big of a deal... but it could mean I am not quite as far along as I think I am?!? I am sure of my last menstrual date but not of conception date or anything. Anyone have any thoughts? It puts my mind at ease a little thinking that my dates may be a little off... maybe I ovulated later that month or something??? I don't know and probably never will but it works well for my family and friends who keep calling wanting to know when I am going to do something to get the baby out and don't I know babies can get tooo big and suffocate in there?!?!?!?!?
Amber, have you been measuring small all along? Or, the feeling of movement could also have been hampered if your placenta was anterior. Do you know where it lies?

As for the running out of room in there - my mws are bound to send their clients to a consult with an OB at 10 days past, to assess the baby. They do an u/s - a bpp (biophysical profile), which measures how well the baby is doing, which basically indicates whether or not the placenta is still doing its job. If it is, then they don't worry, but when the placenta starts breaking down, they transfer to an OB for induction.

Hugs to those still waiting! I can just imagine how annoying *those* phone calls must be for you right now!

Tricia- Glad to hear things are going pretty well. Our kiddos are almost the same age- have you had more toddler tantrums too? Grant has been getting better over the past week though, and I'm thankful for that. We are also tandem nursing here. How's that going? I never nurse them both at the same time because my toddler is so wiggly and I am so afraid he's going to hurt the baby!

tug- Oh how scary with the RSV! Please keep us updated. I'll be thinking of you...

Cloth diapering Mamas....how's that newborn diapering going? Gavin has a diaper rash that isn't getting better so I bought a pack of Pampers and have been slathering on the Desitin. I hope it helps- I can't wait to get him back in fluffy soft cloth!

Okay, the buzzer went off...dinner is ready!!!

Hey everybody,

I've been lurking for the past couple weeks.
Too immobilized to get upstairs to the computer very often. I don't know if I will ever get around to writing our birth story, but the short version is thus...Water broke spontaneously @ 8am ,went to birth center, came home tried alternating breast pump & walking for 6 hours with just a few random contractions, back to birth center for cervical stretching, prostaglandin gel, Thai food, more walking, a few more random contractions, still no baby 24hrs later. SOOO----to the hospital for pitocin (up to 20 the highest the doc would go), interuterine pressure catheter, in 12 hours baby still not engaged, no dilation, baby has pooped,(the catheter is also used to add fluid to the uterus to rise out the meconium as well as relive some pressure form baby which doesn't work for the latter purpose)... AND baby's heart decelerates whenever I stand up or use the birth ball or squat etc...- we then decide to turn off the pitocin at 2 am and see if anything happens by 5am, as it has done nothing thus far, contractions cease at around 3ish -- SOOO come 6 am we head to the O.R. for what seemed like the speediest c-section ever. 25 minutes to get the spinal in, 5 minutes to get the baby out, and 15 to sew me up.

Baby is fine and dandy. nurses pretty well, but still manages to lose an entire pound in his first 5 days.

Nigel is now 2 weeks old, nurses non-stop and has officialy regained his exact birth weight. He absolutely hates having his diaper changed and not having a nipple in his mouth. My mom says he looks just like me.

A weird thing though. I only bled for 6 days after the birth. But suddenly started again 2 days ago. Doc said I'm probably doing too much, which is weird because I'm doing almost nothing. Well I did go to the store a couple of times with dh, but he didn't let me lift anything. Also, I'm down to just Advil, but still seem to need them to avoid bad pains. Any insight? I hate to think of what I'm doing to my kidneys. I go in for post-partum check on Monday and I really want to be okayed for activity as DH goes back to work on Wednesday.

Lisa, Cloth diapering is going pretty good. Except I need to make more wipes.
Nigel has had a red, raw bum for days. His pediatrician said that cloth diapers and desitin are the best thing to clear it up. In fact, I should probably torture.. I mean change ... him now.

Hope everyone is doing alright. to those still pregnant. Both my babes were evicted at 13 days past their due date.

kitty - wow! what a time you had! glad he is nursing well now - they never seem to like the changing, huh? weird about the bleeding...

lisa - cloth diapering going great for us (our second time around so this is old hat, i guess). the most amazing thing we used for diaper rash is boudreaux's butt paste. clears up the worst diaper rash overnight, it seems. great stuff! (warning, it does cost more and it stains fuzzi bunz -- although i was recently told that a paste made of oxyclean will clean them).

mia is still miserable. still feverish with the congestion and breathing trouble (who knew that babies don't know how to breath out of their mouths?). ped said that this lasts about four days and may get worse before it gets better.

did anybody else bleed at four weeks? i have bled bright red for most of the time (3 1/2 weeks), it kind of stopped a few days ago but now it's back again and bright red again. kind of odd. i guess i'll call the doc next week.

any news from shannon?

birth vibes to hevea and amber!

Tug: I bled for 8 weeks pp after Chloe. I started walking regularly with my pp friends (I was PG the same time as 2 of my friends) at 4 weeks. OB wasn't concerned about it. Sorry to hear about your sweet Mia. Hope she feels better soon.

Cloth is going really well for us. We didn't start CDing Chloe until she was about a year old. Haven't had any diaper rashes as of yet. We love boudreaux's butt paste, though. Chloe has had more accidents lately with her potty training. We expected it though so no big deal.

Lisa: Chloe has been handling things really well. I am lucky that I have my mom and friend here to help her. We have been living on teething tablets though. She is so gentle wit h Sofia. I just had to change out all her car toys to just soft ones. She wants to share them with Sofia. We tandem nurse often at the same time. Chloe likes to hold Sofia's hand and gently pet her. It really is sweet!

Sofia has a bacterial infection in her left eye. She is on antibiotic eye drops for a week. They don't hurt though so I'm just glad we are getting her taken care of. I did find out from the eye doc that the eye drops that they give them takes care of a broad spectrum of bacteria. Wish we had known that as we opted out of the eye drops because we thought that it was just for the STDs.

Gotta go for now. It is bed time and I didn't get my nap today. Take care!

Love, Tricia

tug, Tricia - sorry I thought I had responded to your posts (hee hee - I can still blame pregnancy brain! Although I hear it takes about six months pp for your brain to return to normal...).

Terenia - so sorry to hear about the RSV. Poor little Mia. Thanks for the labour vibes, and I did enjoy my walk, thanks! It was snowy out, so it wasn't icy at all, and no one was on the trails, so doggie had a blast off leash, schnorfling through the tall grasses and hills, catching snowballs...We came back home and after changing into dry clothes, she and I settled in on the floor (cannot get comfy on the couch!) with pillows, with her head resting on my belly, and watched a movie. bliss!

Tricia - thanks for your labour vibes! Sorry to hear about Sofia's eye infection. yuk. Your afternoon naps sound heavenly! You'll all find a groove.

sadkitty - thanks for sharing your story! What a wild ride you've been through. Sending you healing vibes, for body and soul.

So just how many wipes are you cding mamas going through in a day?

No news from Shannon. I called her a short while ago, and left a message. Hope that they're just needing time and space together, and recovering from their ordeal.

No news here, either! Started on the EPO, and I'm frequently on my birth ball, but dh and I didn't do our homework last night... We both ate too much at supper, so I had my belly full of baby and supper, and were both really tired..wasn't gonna happen! today...!!

nak & sleep deprived

cloth fine - 2nd child. rio gets a rash if i don't put fleece next to his skin. using lots of wipes! dunno how many... 2 dozen/day? ihave hemmed ones but i think i'll cut up nothrer old flannel baby blanket & let them fray.

bleeding still at4 weeks. been worse whrn im active. even some clots recently.

teo is still sweet w/rio though we keep having to tell him "no hands on his face!" and apparently he listened when i told him we hsave to keep blankets and such off the baby's head - my mom had put a blanket on rio's head because she couldn't find a hat, and Teo looked over and said, "no mimi! We don't put blanktes on the baby's head!"

Totally sleep deprived as well.

Hi all, wow it's hard to get on here nowadays!!!

Went to my very first LLL meetng the other day... besides the two leaders I was the only one there!!! The leaders were nice but it was kind of a bummer, I was hoping to make some new mommy friends. All my friends that live nearby either don't have kids or their kids are much older then my younger ones.

Cloth diapering is going great! I am so loving using cloth on a newborn and I get such a happy feeling when I think of all the sposies I haven't had to buy / use / throw away. I wish I had more time to make more soakers though because that's all I'm liking for covers at the moment. As far as wipes go I would guess about 20 a day?? I have around 50 and I don't run out by wash day but I get close. (I wash every other day.)

Cam is starting to adapt to Max being around and things are getting better as far as that goes - phew. We've even had a few really sweet tandem nursing moments when Cam strokes Max's little arm I just adore having two little boys to watch grow up together again, it's given me quite a few teary moments so far I hope they will be as close as my older two are.

Okay, with all the Bordeaux Butt Paste recommendations I had to go out and get some today. I will let you know how it works. My poor little guy's bum is still so red and bumpy! I just hate that he has this rash. I don't ever remember DS #1 having a rash like this- ever! I bought those stupid Pampers hoping they would help hold moisture away from his bum, but they seem to be making things worse! His belly button stump just came off so I am going to let him soak in a warm bath today and see if that helps his poor, raw, little bum.

So anyone practically watching your little one grow before your eyes?! Gavin is already getting chubby! He has 2-3 chins now and his legs are getting rolls! It's so sweet to watch him grow...but also hitting home that this period of his life is so short! I am trying to savor it all!
Wow, I am sooo behind. I will have to read all the posts and write more later.

We are at 10 days PP now. I have almost no blood except when I wipe and even then it is brown. I am really glad about that. Hannah is a little weed. She was weighed at 24 hours and had lost 3 ozs. from birth weight then at 5 days she had gained a whoping 9 ozs.!!!! I can't wait to see how much more she has gained now. We are going to see the MW this week so I will know then. Things are going well with the siblings too. We have had pee accidents from DD at night so I am thinking that is from stress. It never happened pre baby. I think that is all for now. Everyone is happy and healthy and healing beautifully!

Happy birthing vibes to everyone still waiting. Can't wait to hear your announcements!

Still here ~ Still preggo!! Went snowmobiling and sledding today... maybe that will help!! :LOL It was fun, but made my already pulled and sore crotch muscles hurt even worse!! Owell, my kids had a blast and it was a beautiful day. So nice to get out!!

Hi everyone, I'm still around, opted to go home from the hospital yesterday as they still haven't figured out what is causing the pain. I'm really frustrated as they seem to have decided that since they can't find a physical cause that I must have ppd instead, I made teh mistake of saying "yes, I am depressed" but apparently everyone stopped listening when I went on to say "I'm depressed because I'm in pain that I know is not normal and nobody seems to be able to tell me why" Needless to say I'm just so frustrated and still in terrible pain in spite of 2 u/s and a cat scan. I'm so certain there is something wrong that I'm actually considering just asking them to do an exploratory lap to properly take a look. Of course asking for surgery would probably prove to them that I was nuts, so here I am, at home, in pain that doubles me over frequently throughout the day with absolutely no answers--all of which is depressing me!

Lisa, Molly's diaper rash gets worse within an hour of putting a disposable on her. I found I just cut some pieces of polar fleece and place one of those against her skin and that keeps her dry, i really only need to usethem at night though.
Labor vibes to Amber and Hevea!! I could really use some good news about now!1

Just popping in to say hi. Congrats to all with new babies and hugs to those still waiting. A big hug for you, Shannon, I'm so sorry for your pain.

Life has been insane here. Dh went back to work on Thursday and by lunchtime I had to call my mom for help. I've had mastitis which hasn't helped me in the recovery department. Anyway, baby is doing great and actually sleeps pretty well at night. All the kids love him so much that it's almost annoying :LOL Lots of fights over who gets to hold him next.

Burts Bees diaper cream is awesome for diaper rash and compatable with cloth diapers.

Take care everyone.
We love Burt's Bees too. With really bad rashes we have used Bentonite Clay. You can find it at HFS in the Health and Beauty section. All you need to do is wet the area a little then pat the clay on and make sure it sticks. Or make a paste and let it air dry without a nappy. Probably only a good idea when babe is in a good sleep so she doesn't wet or poo on the clay. We put calendula oil on the area after. Hope the rash gets better soon!

Ekblad~ Hope you get that mastitis gone. Ouch! Take care mama.

Shannon - thanks for checking in. Glad you're back home, but sorry to hear your hospital stay wasn't very helpful. How's Molly doing?

omg, Amber - snowmobiling and sledding - you go, mama! Hope it encouraged baby to come out and join the fun!

Way to go on the weight gain, Hannah!

aw, Kitty - the scene you described of your two boys is so sweet! Glad things are going well.

And sofia, too - you guys and your sweetie pies! Enjoy!!

Thanks for the wipes info, everybody! I may pick up some more if I don't want to launder them as often...

No news here...screening my phone calls... Dh and I DTD last night...:LOL We may try for it daily. And today we'll go for another big walk.

LOVE my cloth dipes... going thru probably 2 baby washcloths per diaper change - they're what we're using as wipes....with good ole water. No rashes yet...
big hugs all around...
