Books for Abuse Survivors?

Hi,

New mommy-to-be here. I am writing to ask if anyone has read the book When Survivors Give Birth: Understanding and Healing the Effects of Early Sexual Abuse on Childbearing Women by Penny Simkin, Phyllis Klaus?

I didn't find any reviews on Amazon and my public library doesn't have a copy. If not, does anyone have any book recommendations for childhood abuse survivors going through childbirth? Most of my pregnancy anxiety is related to having to put a certain amount of trust in people (e.g. doctors, nurses, midwives, etc.).

Any recommendations appreciated and PMs are okay if that's more comfortable.

TIA,
Margaret

I have not personally read it but it has gotten very good reviews from other doulas on the DONA discussion boards where I frequent. *hugs* to you!

Hi Amy,

I will go ahead and get it then. I'm having more anxiety over the hospital than the pregnancy. Eek! Thanks for the hugs. Those are the best!

Thanks so much,
Margaret

I looked around and amazon was the cheapest place to get it, I actually just ordered it for myself, figured it would be a good addition to my practice. It qualifies for the free shipping too!
