Technique for applying elastic in legs of ie FuzziBuns?

Funny... I really don't care much for pocket dipes... but I was at Goodwill yesterday (50% off day) to get sweatshirts for dipes and I came across this large black PUL windbreaker thing for $2.50 ... and it seemed to good to pass up. I am sure I can easily get two pocket dipes out of it. So they'll be black... it'll be good practice.

ANYWAY how the heck to they do the leg encasing on the FuzziBuns??? I am thinking I will need to do something like this...

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Basically my PUL and fleece wrong sides together, serge across the top so as to get the elastic stitched but not cut... then a line of regular stitching under the elastic (basically that would be seam allowance if I wasn't adding elastic...

Then turn it the right way and add another line of stitching below the serged bit so if you could see though the material it would look like

Does that make any sense at all? Am I on the right track? It seems to be similar to "hidden elastic application" mentioned in one of my sewing books only in there they only tell you to serger along the edge, they don't mention the extra step of sewing along the seam allowance. But it you didn't do that I don't see how it would stay together right...

Any tips?

Well you do stitch them both wrong sides together but you don't put in the elastic until after you have attached the two pieces of material together. Make sure you have a 3/8 inch seam allowance. You'll want 3/8 inch knitted elastic (or something like it - let me know if you're using lastin). Tack one side to the seam allowance where you want the elastic to begin and do the tack it down on the other side where you'd like it to end. When I say tack it down I mean straight stitch it multiple times back and forth on the seam allowance. Then turn the diaper right side out and stitch 1/8 of an inch inward from the elastic (feel for it) and make sure the straight stitch doesn't catch the elastic (you're forming a casing). That should do it. Let me know if I lost you anywhere!
